Sinus problems seem to be back.

I have been taking biaxin XL since Monday night (and I intend to take the
full 21-day course).

Tuesday morning things were significantly better.

But woke up today feeling sick (same sinus symptoms).

Does it ever work this way?? Can things get better, but then worse, but then
better???? I'm hoping one cannot yet conclude that the biaxin is a failure.

Yes.  If it were me (and it has been me in the same exact situation)
I'd give it till Monday morning.  If I still felt as bad as you say,
I'd call the doctor and tell him or her to see how best to proceed
from there.  For right now, if I were congested, I'd irrigate twice a
day and I would take pseudoephedrine.  You want that gunk out of you.
For that reason, I would stop the Nasonex.  I also use Astelin, which
when I'm feeling ok gets a load of phlegm up, so I'd probably keep
spraying that.  Every so often, I'd also spray with some xylitol
mixture I have.

And just so I could rest, if my joints were feeling achy, and hurting,
like they often do, I'd take a couple Ultracets every 6 hours.  No
need to feel totally miserable, and they'd help me catch up on sleep.
I think you said you haven't been CT scanned.  If it were me, and the
Biaxin XL didn't work, I'd consider this.  Unlike my history, there's
no need to spend months with one long infection that never quite goes
away.  You know I'm a big proponent of allergy testing and shots, but
that's something you need to work with your doctor while he's treating
you.  But you and your doc's job right now is to get rid of your
infection, as a CT scan with an infection could me misinterpreted like
mine was that led the first doc of mine to recommend sinus surgery.

Good luck.

No phlegm. Just inflamed feeling, slightly sore throat, and feeling
sick/exhausted/no energy.

I didn't get that much sleep last night and I have noticed a correlation
there.

what is this about joint aches?  is there a relationship or is it a
separate issue?  been struggling with joint ache--mostly shoulders.

That's how I was before I went for surgery.

The antibiotic would seem to improve things for a few days, then the
infection would come roaring right back.  The reason, apparently, is
that with the sinuses blocked, all the antibiotic did was kill some
strains of bacteria, leaving the field open for other strains that are
resistant to that antibiotic to multiply.

You're starting to sound like you're heading for surgery.

Remove the NOSPAM before replying to me.

I hope not, but it's possible.

Steve the odd thing is that nothing feels particularly blocked. Sinus areas
feel slightly inflamed and sore throat and fatigue/crappy feeling.

I NEVER feel overly stuffy. NO problems breathing.

Anyway, I'll probably give it the 21 days. Then if it isn't over, maybe a CT
Scan and go from there. As I said, x-rays showed nothing significant

Hi Guys
I never thought I would go looking for a news group on this subject ..but
here I am ! two and a half months of misery and looking for answers.

I am on my third course of Amoxycillin at the moment...and things are only
mildly better than when I first started the antibiotics.

I am using Saline washes/sprays ( home made filtered water and natural salt
with apparently no additives) which are all very helpfull...the only drug
that gets me through is pseudoehedrine..I have tried all of the nasal
sprays....and things like Telfast etc antihistamine sprays/tablets etc but
they do nothing.

Anyway I am only happy that I am not the only one with this pain in the a.s
affliction..and any help or advice would be welcome
Cheers
