Hello,

This is my very first time posting on this group, and maybe someone
here can help me.

Two years ago, i moved from western canada to the southwest united
states. Leaving canada I had SEASONAL allergies, but never what i have
experienced here.
Within 2 weeks of moving, I was strucken with a constant stuffed up
nose.
I purchased the usual sprays (nasal 4, afrin, etc) and these helped...
I switched to nasal 4 after afrin completely stopped working, but of
course after a few months afrin works again etc.

I have now lived in the following places, with the exact same problems:

-Tijuana mexico, one block from the ocean
-San Diego
-Huntington Beach
-Inland southern california
-Salt Lake City, Utah
-Las Vegas Nevada (where i currently reside)

My symptoms have not gotten worse, but are as bad as always. If you
were to duct tape my mouth and leave me, I would suffocate to death if
not able to take some sort of spray (and blowing does nothing)
I no longer sleep uninterrupted because i ALWAYS get up an hour or so
before my alarm because my nose is 100% plugged, and i always take
something before bed.

Pseudpephedrine (the product that people make meth out of) works best
to help me get some relief... that and afrin will allow maybe 5 or 6
hours without a stuffed nose/head.
No other pills work for me. I have tried benadryl (cand do it, makes me
sleep 100% of the time) and alavert (doesnt help me at all)

My wives accupuncturist told me that 2-3 sessions a week (at $60 per
session) would help me, and that also i need to cut out all
dairy/wheat/oils from my diet.
I explained to her that in canada as here, i went to the gym often,
taking in about 5 or 6 gallons of milk a week with whey protien (as
shakes) and also ate whole wheat breads, etc without problems... She
told me that canadian cows are "different" and the milk in the united
states is bad... I somehow dont buy this. I believe that there are
mucus producing foods, but again, never ever had problems before.

I am 100% convinced that this is an allergen that is effecting me
somehow. Seeing as there is a 12 month growing season where i am, and
back in canada the growing season was 7 at best, it seems that
something is bothering me.

The other day I found a nielmed saline flush kit (complete) on sale at
a store for 90% off, and so i bought this kit for about 80 cents... I
used it last night with semi clear sinus's (i took a spray because the
instructions said that i needed to be clear) and for the first time in
2 years was able to blow OUT mucus etc... but then about an hour later
there was a TERRIBLE rebound effect and i was worse off.

Took it this evening again, and used 2x the packets with the same
volume of water, and so far one nostril is a little clearer, but not
100%...

My real question is:

What can i try and mix and safely irrigate with? I have some organic
apple cider vinegar that i could use... Is that safe? That helps me any
time i have a stomach virus, so does it have anti bacterial properties?

Can someone recommend what i can try to flush my sinus' out? I do NOT
want to go to an ENT because cost for me is a very big issue... and
from what i read, this nielmed product can work mirracles...

so i am 98% pessimistic, and 2% hoping that maybe this can help.
What do you think?

Thanks for the help. Sorry about all the spelling and grammatical
errors, it is late for me.

This sounds like either rhinitis medicamentosum or nasal polyps. Either way,
simple Rx should clear you. If you are near San Diego, you can see Dr at
Rhinology Clinic at U of Cal at San Diego. At maximum takes two visits.

Well, i am not in san diego any longer. I am in las vegas now, and the
chance to get to san diego is a long way off, as I have started a new
job with a good company, and do not want to ask for time off as of yet.

Only in the past few days has the congestion shifted from one nostril
to the other. Before i tried the irrigation, I had both sides stuffed
all of the time... From what i read, rhinitis medicamentosum is when
one nostril is stuffed, then the other, right?

nasal polyps perhaps. Is this any different than sinusitis? The nose
never ever runs, only when i have used irrigation in the past few days.

What do you think based on that? I need an ENT in las vegas i suppose,
but the cost. I havent even looked into the cost, but i am afraid to
think what it might be worth.

i agree with the rhinitis--i keep thing that maybe the best advice for
irrigating the nasal passages to not use anything but your elbows!!--

take care

you probably already know this but...

How often are you doing the Afrin?  the more often you use it the lesser
the amount of time that it is effective and it kicks back at you making
you seemed way more clogged after an extended use.

Steven,

Please go to www.lymefree.com.  This is a noninvasive
technique....Immune Response Training.  Gary Blier is excellent.  This
technique and Gary's commitment to helping my 7 year old son get rid of
allergies and asthma.  His testimonial book is 2 inches thick!  I
called 10 of them before even starting and it's amazing stuff!

Wish you well!  Also check out glyconutrientsreference.com.  For some
reason your immune system is being challenged more in those locations.
And yes....milk is a tough one...get it out of the diet along with
sugar and wheat....Gluten is a top allergen.  But, Gary Blier's belief
is you can live  a normal life by getting your immune system working
properly.
