OK, still doing miserably for 4 weeks.
The 10 days of amoxicillan helped a bit but hasn't done the trick (it did
knock out some bronchitis though).
Now, here's the deal.
Doctor has ordered:
Sinus x-ray
Chest x-ray
blood test (CBC and checking for some other bug, mico something or other).
One question: what might sinus x-rays show?? I have no breathing problems,
unlike many sinus sufferers.
He has also prescribed avelox.
Anyone use that antibiotic?? Any suggestions about that (what to watch out
for and how long does it take to work)

I've had Avelox before, also used when other antiobios have been tried.
It is extremely broad spectrum, "a bazooka" as one docter put it. The
downside of Avelox is that if it does not work, or if your bugs get
resistant to it, the next antiobiotic is an IV drip.
Avelox seemed to take effect very quickly for me, 1-2 days. I had no
side effects.

It will undoubtedly show you've got sinusitis. :-)
It really can't help a primary care physician because he's not equipped
to deal with whatever it shows. For example, supposing it showed that
you have a blocked maxillary sinus? It's not going to affect the
medications and treatments he can prescribe; only a specialist (ENT) can
do something specific about your maxillary sinus (surgery).

Avelox is the "big gun" for sinusitis; extremely broad coverage. If it
doesn't work, your next step is a visit with a specialist to discuss
surgery. It's an antibiotic in the quinolone class, meaning that it has
some side effects and interactions you have to be careful about.
Usually your pharmacist will give you a leaflet discussing those when
they fill the prescription. Make sure you read it.

It might be a good idea to check out allergic or eosinophilic fungal
sinusitis if the Avelox doesn't work before resorting to surgery.

xrays will show an ground glass appearance of affected sinuses or a air
fluid level
if so found usual treatemt is antibiotics at least 2 times--if a 3rd
infection surgery is indicated ( sinuse is not drainiong proberly so normal
drainage tract must be enlarged
like haveing a urinary bladder full of urine--you can only fool with it up
to a point then something msut be dodone
