Hi there...please forgive me if this forum isn't exactly the
appropriate one for my questions, but I figure you guys are the
experts ;)
I'm on my eighth straight day of pseudoephedrine and ibuprofen because
of the weather giving me sinus headaches. In fact, I had the worst one
ever this past week. I don't like taking medicine this often and was
hoping you had alternative treatments for sinus headaches that would
provide relief. The only other things that (sometimes) have worked in
the past were to steam my face and inhale the steam and pretty much do
the same in the shower...fog it up really good. Those two strategies
don't always work though. I'd really like to not have to rely on
pseudoephedrine especially.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

Well, I've been doing some very interesting reading about how many
people who think they suffer from sinus headaches may actually suffer
from migraines. I actually have been diagnosed with migraines and was
wondering why them seem to have been replaced with sinus headaches!
I'd still love to hear your suggestions, though, just in case I *do*
get sinus headaches.
Thanks again :)

Nasal irrigation is the best thing I can suggest--flushing out all the
gunk from your sinus cavities can cause a significant drop in sinus
pressure. Many of us now use an electromechanical irrigation device--a
WaterPik with a special attachment, or the HydroPulse machine.

Aleve is what I use for my sinus headaches.
Sometimes I will have a really bad one that I can hardly function. My
head will hurt so bad for days.
Aleve for a few says will loosen my sinus's.
Take 2 tablets in the morning (6 hrs) later take 2 more.
When your nose stops running stop the Aleve.

Because my frontals and ethmoids were involved, I have had some real
doozy headaches. ...Some have actually had me vomiting for hours. ..The
symptoms may have indicated to many that I was experiencing a migrane,
but they were all directly associated to a sinus infection.
...I agreee with what Steve says, only in my case (under such
circumstances), I irrigate with water as cold as I can get it. ...Almost
freezes my eye movement, but it does offer relief. ...Jon
