I'd just be interested to hear peoples thoughts.

I have suffered with headaches and facial pain for as long as I can
remember. I wake up every morning with the same 'heavy eye' pain, to varying
degrees. Bending down makes it worse. I irrigate, which does seem to help ..
but once whatever it is takes full grip, I am sunk for days. Severe pain in
my jaws, teeth or above the eyes, top of the head or neck can take hold.
Whether the neck pain is a result of the tension of the headaches (hunching
shoulders etc) I'm not sure.

I NEVER have a runny nose .. ever. On the contrary, it feels like the
insides of my tubes are bone dry. The only time my nose runs is if I eat hot
food .. again, this has happened for as long as I can remember and does not
trouble me.

I have seen two sepcialists. The first explored the insides of my nose with
a little camera on a thin tubular scope of sorts and also took a CT scan. He
said there was no evidence whatsoever of the cause being sinus related. The
second one saw me once, took a CT scan and said I needed sinus surgery - and
that I had a wonky septum which also needed fixing.

From what I have read, I do not seem to be a sinusitis sufferer. I have zero
post nasal drip, and my nose simply never runs. My nose IS however always
partially blocked and when I lay down, often fully blocked.

I know that dust triggers 'wheeezing' asthma-like symptoms, and that it can
also make my nose run (when I hoover, I always sneeze or my nose runs as a
direct result). However, I moved into a flat, had all the carpets removed,
dust filters installed and this did not eradicate the problem.

The headaches are not occasional .. they are daily, the worst ones being
weekly. It makes work practically impossible, planning future outings very
hit and miss and generally it is impossible to have any kind of routine.
Life has to be slotted around the headaches .. which drives me crazy, they
actually take priority in life!

I spent about seven years taking pain killers daily, but realised that
couldn't possibly be the way for obvious reasons. Although this was perhaps
the only period in my life where I had control. I could work, socialise,
plan and so on .. albeit numbed by the pain killers. Lord knows what that
did to my insides.

I am just wondering if I COULD still be suffering from sinusitis, or if it's
more likely to be chronic allergic rhinitis or something?

I also NEVER have runny nose or mucus but that does not mean it is not
sinusitis.I have just had surgery!Lots of sinus diseased tissue in there the
ENT said.Don't let any ENT tell U that just because you don't have mucus you
don't have a sinus problem.Sometimes the mucus is too thick to get out!It
stays in your maxillaries, ethmois, sphenoids or frontals, stagnates and become
infected.Mine has lasted 6tmonths and is my longest ever....very little
mucus but I have had an infection because I had a stage of profuse sweating
and raised temp-usually symptoms associated with
infection-augmentin,clindamycine etc etc did not work!

Since you got conflicting opinions, I think that you would be justified and
well-advised to get some more.

I think that that will clarify the matter.

However,  rhinitis and sinusitis are often closely related and I doubt that it
will help much to try to get a definitive diagnosis of one or the other.  They
can address your problem without needing to do that.  Some may call it one and
some the other, and it is not necessarily going to make any difference in
treatment......

What about TMJ as a cause for the pain?

That can indeed by cause of Pain and is fairly easy to check out with one's
dentist at low cost......
