i just found this group and i am at mywits(or sinuses) end. i have been
thru the gambit of meds.....drs....specialists and knowone seems to be
able to help. ive had lazer surgery on the inside of my nose to see if
that helps reduce the swelling and congestion but that didn't work. the
only thing that helps me to sleep at night is otc afrin. my dr says it
causes rebound congestion but yet all of the other meds they have tried
on me has not helped at all. what else is there out there?

Whatever you had originally, you now have Afrin rebound that is blocking
your breathing. Usually the Afrin makes you nervous too.

Prescribed steroid sprays.....

Hi, Get off the afrin OTC sprays. Period. Get your Dr to give you
steroid sprays. There are 6 that I know of. Some may be better for one
person to the next. Rhinocort, naxonex, flonase all seem fine but some
people find one that bothers them so find the one that works best for
you. start with asking your DR. for samples. First open your nose with
the afrin then before it clogs (say 30 minutes)use the steroid spray.
Follow directions correctly. The steroid spray will only work if your
nose is somewhat open. If your nose is not clogged dont use afrin. Do
not breath it in deep. Just gently. Follow directions. It took me 3 days
to work then after 7-8 days I know longer needed the OTC sprays. Now find
out the root of the problem. Allergies? Mold? dustmites? Dust? Pollen?
Wine? (yes) Grass clippings/ Do you have rugs in your house? Dog/cat?
Need more info from you. First be relaxed. Then you can think clearly to
solve this problem. Been there done that. Keep the humidity around 32%.
no wine/milk for 1 month. Try it.. tell us more info. Take care
