Nasocort AQ is the one without benzalkonium. However, some work better on
individuals than others. Right now I am "hot" for Astelin.

Are you the the Dr. Grossan of the grossan irrigator?
Astelin is an anti-histamine spray, not a steroid. Rhinocort AQ is the
only steroid spray without preservatives.
Why do you like astelin so much?

Speaking as a years long Astelin user, I don't know how I ever lived
without it. It's so effective on the tissues locally that it can
actually abort a sinus induced migraine at times for me.
Rhinocort made my noise an irritated bloody mess within weeks.

Astelin is an anti-histamine spray, so it's not a nasal steroid.
Rhinocort AQ is the only currently marketed steroid spray without
preservatives (which can decrease ciliary action.) They market two
strengths in Canada--the 32 or the 64, only the 32 in the US, which can
mean up to four sprays each nostril a day.
Why do you like the astelin?
My sister swears by it.

My specialist has changed me from Nasonex to Flunisolide.....does anybody
know the DIFFERENCE between these 2 sprays. The second one seems more toxic
when I take it.

Just as one person gets fabulous results with one antihistamine and the
other gets lousy effect, so too various products may work better for one
person and not the other. However, in one of the journal articles they
claimed they couldn't note a difference in effect of the various cortisone
sprays.

Flunisolide (Nasarel, Nasalide in the U.S.) is older and does have a slightly
higher systemic absorption.
Dr. David Kennedy told me that it penetrates better than Nasonex for those who
have had surgery so that the sinusess are open enough that some of the spray
can penetrate.

What do you mean by "seems more toxic"?
