Little flecks of black were coming out of my adaptor this
morning. The Waterpik is a few years old.
I bought a new Waterpik Ultra, but the adaptor doesn't fit.
Last time I replaced the Waterpik, the adaptor (made of metal) didn't
fit, and I had to get a new adaptor, this one plastic with blue rubber
tip, from the ENT.
So, now do I need another adaptor, or another model of Waterpik???
Thank you--I need to irrigate tonight if possible.

The black flecks are probably rubber.
The Hydro Pulse is made without rubber for that reason. Check with your
insurance carrier to see what they reimburse you for on the Hydro Pulse. See
www.hydromedonline.com for a form.

I have irrigated with Waterpiks for decades, have used various adapters with
it, and have never seen such flecks of black coming out of it.
I suggest you call Waterpik, and see if their own sinus tip will fit on the
Ultra, or if they have an adapter to make it fit, etc. If it doesn't now, I
assume they shortly will make their sinus tip compatible with their newest
model Waterpik.
The Ultra is nicer looking than the other models, and the rotary pressure
control on the body of the unit certainly looks better than the button
control on the handle on the WP60-70 models. I prefer the larger tanks
(1000ml vs. 600) on the older models though.
If it doesn't sound like they will have a compatible tip soon, if you can
still return the Ultra to the store, I would suggest you do so, and pick up
a different WP model, or the Interplak irrigator, which also works with the
Grossan tip.

The Waterpik my family used for cleaning our teeth certainly started
spitting out crumbled black bits of old grommet right before it died. The
Waterpik was about 5 years old when this happened. If you check the archives
this issue has been discussed here before with good explanations as to why
this happens. AW
