Where do you feel the irritation or "tickle" that makes you cough? Is
it in your chest, your larynx, or high up in your throat?
Depending on where the "tickle" is, it could be bronchitis, sinusitis,
laryngitis, or even gastroesophageal reflux.

Post nasal drip is slow cilia and thick mucus. Pulsatile irrigation may solve
the problem, or at least improve it. It may help the cough.
Your cough may be due to inactive cila. Sometimes helping the nasal cilia can
help the chest cilia.
Don't forgat adequate hydration - lots of tea, lemon , honey and have moisture
in the bedroom.
