I wanted to know if this sounded like sinusitis to you.  I had an upper
respiratory infection a few weeks ago - towards the end of the
infection I was bringing up through my nose and mouth yellow mucous
with dried blood.  I didn't think much of it.  I got better and
everything seemed to have gone away.  About 7-10 days later I woke up
with a headache and again was blowing out the same thich yellow mucous
with blood.  I can breathe almost normally, I don't have face pain - I
only have a headache and feeling blah.  I went to the doctor and he
said it looked like allergies but when I quesitoned the yellow mucous
and blood he didn't really explain anything.  He said if it would make
me feel better he'd give me Biaxin XL for a week.  I tend to really
worry about my health and am wondering what all of you think?

Thank you very much.

Are you irrigating?  You may want to give that a shot before going with
the antibiotics.  Or maybe do both.  I was getting green/yellow mucous
with bits of blood at the beginning of spring and it went on for a
week, stopped for one and came back for another two.  I've been clear
since then.  I was just about to go and get checked out for a possible
infection, but it seems twice daily irrigations did the trick.  I'm now
back to my once daily maintenance routine.  I'm hoping to be able to
cut back to 3 or 4 times a week in the summer.

I had the same symptoms as you last December. My MD gave me Biaxin XL
for 10 days, it worked for awhile but it did not clear it up. So I went
back to him a month later but got a different MD (as mine was away). She
put me on Cipro for 10 days and that finally cleared it up, also useing
saline rinses 2 x a day.
