I tryed most of them. Flonase, rhinocort naonex, nasocort. The nasonex I
started using last week and I am no longer hooked on OTC. I was
surprised in 2 days it worked. But the prescription says 2 sprays 2
times a day. It seems like a lot. I do have polyps and I am breathing
way better than ever in the last 2 years. But all the other sprays say 2
spray each opening once a day. Is it because of the polys? I heard
nasonex is getting FDA approval for polyp shrinkage. I is it all hype. I
heard it best to use no preservative spray someone said here. Let me
know ... Thank you

Does the preservative irritate you?

If not, I would not worry about it.   I never have.

You can also try cutting the dosage in half and experiemnt to see if that is
enough - it may be.....

Hi, I have no irratattion. I did on some of the others, thats why I
thought it would not work. I cut the dose last 3 days and all is well.
At the double dose it was lasting 15 days per bottle and with no
insurance its high. Can I buy this anywhere cheap? Lie in a 3 pack
lol... Thank you

I agree. If the preservative doesn't cause a problem for you, you probably
shouldn't; worry about it. Some are sensitive to it, not everyone.

I believe Rhinocort Aqua might be the only one available now without
preservatives.

Also, Nasacort is supposed to come out with an aerosol version soon,
Nasacort HFA. (There used to be several aerosol versions, all taken off the
market a few years ago due to CFCs. This new Nasacort aerosol (not their AQ)
uses a new non-cfc propellant, HFA. Aerosols never need preservatives. I'm
not sure what's happening with this HFA product though. It was approved by
the FDA in April 2004, and I don't believe it has yet been released on the
market.

My MD had tried those other nasal sprays- Flonase, Rhinacort, etc.(nose
bleeds and headaches).

The only one that my nasal passages would tolerate is Nasalcort.
The saline rinses effect it the same way, so I use Simply Saline at
morning and night now.

Anyone know anything about the new Nasacort HFA (aerosol) I mentioned? Will
it ever become available? If so, when?
