I have been on antibiotics for 11 months out of 14 one surgery in June
and one in Feb. I am sick literally all of the time as you all know how
that goes.  I have a 2.5 year old who is suffering from all of this as
well as having some sinus trouble also.  We live in Knoxville, TN so we
breathe heavily polluted air almost everyday.  I moved here 8 years ago
from Williamsburg, VA and I was perfectly fine.  I have been sick as a
dog since I moved here.  Right now I am on minocycline for a staph
infection.  I had a cold and then caught another one, I catch many
colds a year.  I have a cough almost constantly and have even been
getting worse and worse cases of bronchitis that require breathing
treatments and a rescue inhaler.  To get over one bout I had all of
those and had to use an Advair inhaler for 2 weeks. I have had immune
testing done it was all normal but my pneumonia antibodies, had the
pneumovax and the antibodies went up like normal.   I feel like I am
getting worse not better at all.  My husband keeps asking why I had
surgery etc.  I know that the air I am breathing can't be helping I am
trying to do something about that but don't have the energy lately.  I
miss exercising, I don't eat right anymore because I don't feel like
it.  I want suggestions for a superior doctor in the US for chronic
sinusitis who does not just treat it surgically or with antibiotics but
with inhaled antibiotics and other ways respectively.  Should I see a
pulmnologist and an infectious disease specialist and if so should I go
somewhere other than Knoxville, TN?  Any suggestions for exercise while
feeling so lousy?  I know that would help me feel better and I know I
need to eat right.  Any other doctors that might play a role.  I feel
my allergist and ENT are just not doing what needs to be done.  I look
forward to hearing from anyone soon!  I am 32 years old and I feel like
I am at least 50.

What were the results of your environmental testing of your living
conditions?
If you also work, do they have any kind of indoor environmental
monitoring?
Any allergy testing already performed?

I was in a similar situation.  After years of struggle, I had to bite
the bullet and leave the polluted area.

Take a long vacation in a coastal community with fresh unpolluted air
and see if you and your child improve.  If so, then I think you and your
husband should have a frank talk.  There's no point in fighting a losing
battle to preserve your health in an unhealthy environment.  Leave.
It's your life and the life of your child.

Where do you recommend living on the coast (USA)?
East or West?  North or South?
Also, where are real estate prices still reasonable?
Thanks!

Makes no sense to me to move from one moist environment to another.

One of these days, we'll be heading for a desert clime.

There's a WONDERFUL website
www.scorecard.org
that has the air pollution data for the whole country from the EPA
monitoring stations.  Just enter the Zip Code for the locale you're
interested in, and find out what's in the air, and who is putting it
into the air.

<*sigh*>  I did that last time you posted it.  Not that it *surprised*
met that my air is in the dirtiest 20%.  I wanted to live in a bigger
town, I did.

See my post in " No Cure" and othe rinfo on this sight. I am 51 and
would give anything to feel 51 ! . My normal energy puts me in better
shape than when I was 31 ( and smoked , drank, did not exercise as
much). Literally tons of reading leads me to ( personally) think most
surgeries --unless no brainer opening of airways, removing
obstructions----are failures. Docs too lazy or to incompetent to
aggressively remove all disease in hard to get at places and/or do not
follow up post-op with needed courses of antibiotics to keep swelling
down and promote healing. They do more damage than good. Read all you
can on this sight and elsewhere on web. Learn to rinse ....etc.
Otherwise, Steve may be right. In fact, if I was not golden handcuffed,
I would be gone from Indiana tomorrow.

Aloha .....This sounds like me 4 1/2 years ago I am finally finding some
relief tho not fully recovered yet....after my sinus infections for 18
months I
had my first surgery then 7 mo later another surgery ..went to a
pulmnologist who diagnosed asthma and started treatments for that , I never
really felt good again , I could just breath a little better however , not
great just a little bit better...well to bring this current 4 more sinus
surgeries lots of prednisone (3.5 years) ,antibiotics and asthma meds that
left
me a mess. From the 1st. surgery i got an MRSA infection which was  later
diagnosed as asthma ...M R S A  is very hard to clear up...

.Here is what helped me so far...
1. You need to see a lung doc and do a broncoscopy to see what is in there
..sputum tests
don't always work. and if your on antibiotics sputum test don't work well at
all...
2. After all  the antibiotics you have been on you need to test for yeast
infection ..see www.asthmastory.com ...
3. See infectious desease Doc. if your not responding to the new
treatments..
4. Do sinus irragations . Grossan or water pik with grossan tip .  I use in
2 quarts R.O. (reverse osmosis) water 4 drops lugols iodine , 1 table spoon
3% hydrogen peroxide ....test and make
sure your not alergeric to iodine...
5. Must Buy serrapeptase take 4 daily spread out..

http://vitanetonline.com/affiliate/DRB-00149/68853/  heres a link or google
serrapeptase lots of studies done great stuff and cheap....
this will be a good start I'll send more as I think about it.....Blessings
Michael

Have you tried the sinus center at St. Mary's in Knoxville?  They do
other things besides surgery like ampotericin B nasal washes and
nebulized antibiotics.  I have seen Dr. Horton there.  He seems to be
very knowledgeable.   I live in Bristol, Tn. and agree this is one of
the worst areas in the US for sinus problems.
