Keep feeling like vomit, why?

In recent weeks, I keep feeling like vomit but I don't see obvious trigger
for it. I am 29 yr old male, have a long history of sinus problems including
frequent sneeze/runny/stuffy nose. My sinus symptoms have actually relieved
by a lot lately.

Sometimes when I am on the road, feeling the urge to clear throat and cough,
and a feeling of vomit suddenly pop up, in order to surpress it I usually
get
a red face and throat.

What is the problem with me?

It sounds like you have  acid reflux (Gerds), I have the same symptoms
sometimes when I am in a car too. Like dry heaves and keep saltine
crackers in the glove department that helps a lot.

That reflux just seems to pop up all of a sudden without any warning.

Thank you Brady and Shirley.
Thinking back to the past few months, my sinus condition improved, and at
the
same time I changed to a higher and more solid pillow. If the GERD
hypothesis
is true, it must be the pillow that prevented acid from flowing into my
throat and
cause sinus problems. On the other hand, the solidness of the pillow allowed
less
air to flow in/out of the pillow, which carries dust & mites.

I have to sleep on one of those wedge pillows, it helps me from getting
that reflux.
The wedge pillow is very narrow on 1 side and gradually raises to 3-4
inches. It is made of foam, not the soft kind.

Some people complain about them as it hurts their lower back .

You don't mention headache, so I don't know if this applies to you, but
sinus inflammation triggers a migraine episode for me and this causes
vomiting often.  Lately, due to increased moisture and mold and stuff
blooming, I've had at least weekly headache triggered vomiting episodes,
and many more episodes of feeling like throwing up.

It's the pain behind my right eye that's most associated with these
episodes.  Using Astelin with an NSAID before bed and daily saline
irrigation helps prevent this for me.

Headache and drowsiness is a side effect of sinus conditions. 9/10 of my
sudden
onset of sinus conditions are accomplied by headaches.

On the other hand, I tend to believe it is the sinus & vomit conditions
which
triggered headaches. Maybe, before the vomit episode is eminent, tunnels
like
throat and nose have already suffered a lot due to liquid and gas from
stomache.

Drinking warm water in small amout in frequent intervals to clear the acid
from
throat, does it work?

My sinus condition triggers my headaches, which become full blow
migraines.  Migraines are often accompanied by vomiting, as in my case.

I don't have GERD.

1) Coughing can trigger your gag reflex.

2) Gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) very often causes sinus disease and
post-nasal discharge.

3) GERD is the third leading cause of unexplained cough.  Patients
often may have no other symptoms but cough.

Hope it helps.

I've experienced this as well.  It's not frequent though.  When it does
happen, it's almost always in the morning, right after I get up.
Sometimes I'll actually 'heave' up some phlegm.  What a way to start the
day, eh?  I frequently have post nasal drip and when I have these
morning 'heave' sessions, it's when I'm most congested.

I hadn't even thought that it might be acid-reflux.  Hmmm.

I have acid reflux (Gerds) now, sometimes I get the same re=action that
you are having, especially traveling in a car.
It will start with dry heaves first than a cough.
I keep saltines in our glove compartment and have a couple of those when
I feel like I am going to upchuck (vomit).
Try to eat something in the morning before you go to work or on the
road.
That helps me now.

I had this symptom a couple of years before I was diagnosed with Gerds.
