Thanks for reminding me of that option. He did actually say he wanted to do
a CT scan for several reasons. One was to see how things look one year post
op especially since I was having some bad headaches and congestion on the
left side.. Two, he said many of the insurance companies are going to make
it an act of congress for a doctor to order one. There will be forms and
preapproval, etc. I am hoping he was just being thorough. I totally trust
him. He's always been a good doctor to me and has treated other members of
my family. He has done 2 of my 3 sinus surgeries over the last 17 to 20
years. You can probably guess why I changed doctors after the first
surgery. That first one put a tube in my left ear just for good measure
since I had some fluid behind my eardrum. The surgery was done outpatient.
He also did a procedure called window something on my sinuses and removed
several large polyps. Half way home from the hospital my ear started
pouring with an awful discharge and I was sick, very sick. We got home and
called that doctor and he asked had I gotten any dirty water in my ear!!!!
I had just left the hospital! Not even home yet! I was in his office a few
days later, 15 lbs lighter, and I am a small person anyway, and told him I
couldn't keep anything down and couldn't eat due to the pain. He LAUGHED
and said "well we all like to lose a few pounds) My weight was around 98lb.
I ended up in the hospital 2 weeks later for 3 weeks with mastoiditis with
a constant draining of the left ear. They even brought in an infectious
disease specialist to treat me with strong IV antibiotics. I couldn't hear
out of that ear for many months but I did finally recover. A nurse told me
in the hospital that this doctor had 3 other patients on that same floor
with the same thing. I thought of checking into a lawyer but I felt if I
was better finally, I would just let it go and find someone else. I totally
feel if a doctor seems uncaring and doesn't try to help you, and apparently
had contamination in his operating room, a person has a right to a second
opinion. If I ever get a bad feeling like I did with him, I wouldn't
hesitate.

If you are currently having bloody discharge as well as sinus pain, you
might ask your doctor about using an antibiotic ointment on that side to
help to heal it.

Did he leave the windows open?
I think that procedure is not commonly done any more....it sounds as if yur
newer one is better but you always want to have the very best you can find.....

This is similar to my own story.
Trouble breathing but given the all clear on lungs/allergies etc.
Went for a CT scan yesterday after finally seeing an ENT on Tuesday,
now find myself almost hoping they say "ah here's the problem" though
from reading the archive here about CT scans I am a bit less
optimistic!
