Hydro-Pulse Questions

Just purchsed one of these in the UK and have a couple of questions.

Is it designed to cut out every (approx) 200ml of solution dispensed ? The
one we have seems to do this for about 20 seconds. It doesn't mention
anything in the instructions so we're not sure if it is a fault.

There was some pain following irrigation - not bad - which I assume may be
down to the pressure setting being too high; however, is it normal for water
to be retained for hours in the sinuses ? There was little flow through
initially but them a whole load of fluid whooshed out about 3 hours later.

Thanks for any help

You need to give a better explanation of what you mean. In the meantime, run
a couple full 500ml reservoirs of tap water through your machine into the
sink to see if it works properly.

Relax while irrigating. Keep your head bent over and perpendicular per
instructions. Don't force water into sinuses if they are completely plugged.
If they are, ask your Dr for steroids to shrink swelling so Hydropulse can
work correctly. Make sure the pressure isn't too high. There should be no
real pain unless your sinus is already raw and then pain isn't intense.
Sometimes water will remain in sinuses after irrigating. After irrigating I
lean over the toilet and put my head down and water drains out quickly.
Don't try and force any remaining water out. Any remaining water will be
reabsorbed. It took me at least 2 weeks of regular irrigating to even begin
to get my sinuses to draining properly.

Using a Hydropulse is a gentle process if you are doing it correctly. It
took me about 2 months of daily use to figure out what process worked best
for me, so be patient. Things can be quite different when first starting as
compared to maintenance irrigation after you get your sinuses draining
again.  Now I do about 125ml saline on each side followed by another 75ml on
each side and then I'm good to go. YMMV,    AW

I dunno if it's normal, but it happens to me sometimes 10 hours later.
Often, it doesn't all drain out unless I lean down and tilt my head to
the left.

No, if you use a full 500 ml solution, the HydroPulse should use the
whole thing until the container is empty.  If you hear the motor running
but no solution is coming out of the tip, it could be air bubbles in the
hose line.  The instructions tell you how to do that.  If the motor
stops running, then that sounds like the unit is defective and needs to
be replaced.  Call the vendor you bought it from.

Well, if the reason you're using the HydroPulse in the first place is
because you have sinus problems, then sure, your sinuses aren't draining
properly.  I made the mistake of having a CT scan after using the
HydroPulse and the CT scan picked up all the fluid in my sinuses that
hadn't drained out yet.
