After several months of a pressure feeling in the back of my throat and
failed attempts at antibiotics to make any difference on the slight
inflammation of my right tonsils, my ENT finally ordered a neck CT at
my request.

I am currently experiencing severe sleep apnea to the point of waking
up with all extremeties in a feeling like they are asleep,  the
tingling after the blood supply was temporarily reduced.  The prior
symptoms as described to my ENT and family doctor during at least two
or three visits with each one were: It started as a pressure feeling in
the back of the throat like someone was pressing on it with a finger,
then there would be flare ups of extreme pain that would radiate into
the area behind the eye and into the right shoulder.  The worst flare
ups also caused severe constant gagging reflex and coughing.  After I
eat I cough and have coughed up septic smelling matter (out of the
tonsils?) that looked like it had been rotting for several days (maybe
stuck food).  No significant fever to mention.

Family doctor (GP) ordered a barium swallow that was done right after
one of the bad flare ups and it only showed a slight reflux and a minor
hiatyl hernia.  The blood work that was done during a flare up was only
a standard CBC with sed rate (no differential).  It showed a slightly
elevated WBC and a sed rate at 10 (which was the maximum of normal
according to the lab).  A follow up blood work up not during a flare up
with differential showed normal levels, except for the c-reactive
protein which was at the maximum of the normal range for the lab.  My
BP has been slowly increasing over the last three months and has spiked
up to 160 over 110, normal for me was 118 over 75 one year ago, sleep
apnea related?

Any available ENTs want to look at the images and comment:

The share option will expire in seven days.

The consensus between my sister, an internist, and the radiologist is
that I need immediate surgery to remove the tonsils and adenoids.  In
addition there appears to be a protrusion just below the tonsils on the
right side that needs investigated.  The measurement of the
constriction show that the nasopharynx opening is approximately 1cm by
0.4cm wide!!!  Pictures 18 through 27.

As I am well aware, reading an xray/CT is as much an art as a science
and the more different eyes that look at it, the reduced chance of
anything being missed.

If anyone wants to email direct: rrhdak(at)verizon(dot)net
You should know what to do with the email in order to send me one :)

My next ENT appointment is scheduled for March 3rd, but I am going to
call tomorrow morning to try and get an immediate appointment to
schedule surgery unless another opinion can indicate another option.

Inflammation throughut throughout the body  will increase with lack of enough
sleep.

Yes you are probably not getting enough rest and this is causing inlfamamtion
and blood pressure to rise.

Mine do the same when I do not get enoigh rest, (although I do not have sleep
apnea).
