I failed to get a flu shot this last  fall and ended up with a horrible
flu that turned into an
acute sinus infection.  There are many articles that have pros and cons
on gettig a flu shot.
Some people believe all the vaccines people get are playing a role in a
compromised
immune system.  There are others that believe the flu shot builds the
immune system and
keeps it healthy.  What is your opinion of the flu shot?  Thanks.

The one year I did not get a flu shot I also got a horrible flu and
sinus infection.  This year, got the shot, and so far have felt very
good.

That's enough to sell me on getting flu shots from here on out.--r3

Have you considered that your public health doctors who work for your best
interests and who study these matters full time might be in a better
position to answer your question \? You are free to call your local county
or state department and ask these questions . Also most have web sites you
can read that tells WHY they recommend flu shots.
Or you can go to www.doctors are dumb and don't know a thing.com and read
why you should buy their vitamins instead of listening to your doctor. (
they take Visa or Master Card).

I would not go without my flu shot. I would be sick all winter as I have
allergies and that means low immunity.
My doctors over the years recommended it for me when I was in my 30's.
They also recommended the 1 a-day vitamin too.

The last 2 years in December I came down with a sinus infection and that
is before I get my flu shot.

I used to get the flu shot, but then I noticed every time I did, I'd
experience something like a mini-flu, immediately thereafter.   ...About
8 years ago, I had the shot and that seemed to set my smoldering sinus
problems into full gear. I haven't taken a shot since.  ...Jon

Amazing.
I had the same thing happen to me!  My sinus problems got much
worse--permanently worse--just 5 hours after taking a flu shot in
September 1993.  Just 5 hours after the shot I got the worst sinus
attack in my life before or since.

There have been a very few people on this NG who have made the same
complaint over the years.

Apparently there must be some kind of very rare idiosyncratic reaction
to flu shots in some people.
