Has anyone had any luck at getting rid of rhinitis with the aid of
allergy shots.  I am having so much trouble every morning. I can't walk
from one room to another without having snot drip down my lip.  I would
just want some relief.

Yes, I get wonderful results from allergy shots, but most allergists
give shots that are two weak to work.

My immunologist aggressively desensitized me over 12 weekly shots, then
bi-weekly or monthly shots, with retests periodically.

All of my symptoms improved dramatically.

Good luck, Fred.  I recently talked to two guys who said the shots changed
their lives.  One was two years into shots, and the other 5 years.  They
said their symptoms vanished.
Susan, you helped me before!  I am due to start weekly allergy shots
in about two weeks.  My friend wondered why my allergist (who seems great)
would take that course and not prescribe medications (like Zyrtek).  Any
thoughts from your experience?  (Dust, mites, molds, trees)  Personally, I
am pleased to start the shots--I just did surgery and really don't want
another sinus infection again, ever!  I feel hopeful...

I took Zyrtec for years, still do, but my symptoms were so severe, and
worsening, so desensitization was wise.  When I moved, I went to a more
conventional allergist, and her shots were so diluted that she made all
my allergies come back!  I now drive over an hour to my old doctor, and
he got rid of them all again with 12 weekly higher doses.  Now he
retests me periodically, and sends me serum to inject at home, monthly
if all is well, every two weeks if things are symptomatic.  I'm treated
for dust, mites, mold, trees, grass, weeds, ragweed.

Fred, I have been taking shots for years now. I took them for about
three years when I was a teenager and then quit. They seemed to help a
lot with my allergies at that time. I quit taking them about 18 and
then started up again at 26. Been taking them for nearly 20 years now.
I had to start again because whenever it would rain in this area the
mold count would go up and my sinuses would begin to bleed from the
irritation.  Also I had a hard time breathing from the asthma. The shot
have helped me a lot. I still get polyps, but I don't think my nose
runs as bad as it did. Perhaps I've gotten used to that part.  At least
I can breathe and no longer have my sinuses irritated to that degree
anymore.
