My sinuse are doing fair. Last last I was really bad. Dr said surgery, I
said no. Polyps were large in a few places. Anyway I had a cold and was
coughing up yuk. Grayish color. Was told by friend to try mucinex. I
found it and also in a few other cheaper congesters. When I took 1200mg
per day it did nothing. For 2 days I took 2400 mg . now im doing great.
Ans im cleared up. Its says to take 1200 mg per day. Is 2400 A problem?
Thank you

Guaifenisin is well tolerated.  A patient can be on 2400 mg/day for the
long haul.  But if you're feeling better, you could try cutting back the
dose.

Thank you, Is it just for lung congestion? Or does it help with nose
congestion also. It seems I breath a littl e easier with it. Im not
using it long term. Just to clear my lungs. They are now fine and I
stopped using it. Thank you. Also is there any nasal decongestent that
is not OTC. I heard of 5 (which  I wont say here) Is there one that is
good for nasal polyps Thank you

Hey.... I have had two sinus surgeries to remove polyps and my problems
still persist.  I take Guaifenex PSE 600/120 TB SAETH every morning and
take 1200 mg of Mucinex every night.  Talk to your doctor about
possibly always taking them.  Mucinex really helps me especially at
night, I now wake up clearer then ever before.

Hey, What is guaifenex pse 600/120 TB Saeth? Is that musinex? Please let
me know. I use those nose strips at night. They seem to work just a
little. But a little is better than nothing. I am interested in how you
had 2 surgeries and it did not seem to work. I have polyps and Im just
wondering if there is alternatives. Because sometimes Im doing good. My
biggest problem is that one side will close up then the other they
alternate. Its very strange. This can happen 1-2 times a day up to 10
times a day It just switches within a matter of minutes. Someone said
its from a deviated septum. Well any input would be great. Do you take
Mucinex extended release at night or the regular? Thank you

No it is normal and happens in everyone.

You just nitice it because you have swollen turbinates.

Guafenex is a prescription drug that is a combination of two things.
First, there is Guaifenesin which is mucinex, this is used to break up
and thin mucus.  There is also Phenlpropanolamine in it which
supposedly reduces the swelling of mucus membrane. My doctor prescribed
for me just to take guafinex and then my allergist told me to take more
gaufinex and mucinex.  The worst the problem, I'm guessing the more you
take.

and.. Polyps suck.... they came back in my sinuses 7 months later after
my first surgery and just 3 months after my second.  I am currently on
a system of taking steroids for 4 weeks and then I wait until polyps
come back and then back on the steroids.  I will say one thing.... i
react positively to steroids.  If I'm on steroids I feel great.  No
problems at all breathing and life is much better.
