Just because I didn't ge much response to my earlier post regarding my
discovery of having a hiatal hernia. I just recently started having
GERD symtoms over the last few months but nothing prior to that really.

I've been fighting my sinusitis, vasomotor rhinitus, allergies, etc
etc..... for about 6 years now. I had tried everything that we all
have, OTC drugs, numerous perscription nasal spays, rinsing,
antibiotics, CAT scans, diets, allergy shots, assortments of ENT and
allergy specialists, water pic assesories. You name it, I tried it. I
even flew out to Mayo Clinic last March only to hear the same
diagnosis. "Vasomotor rhinitis". I was nearly about to give up on
finding anything until recently. As I said, I was starting to
experience some acid reflux in my throat. After mentioning this to my
fantastic allergy doctor here in Sacramento. We discussed GERD and
sinus problems. He advised me to get it checked out. I had an upper GI
scan done and was diagnosed with this hiatal hernia. A few days later
my primary doctor put me on Aciphex at my suggestion and Holy Cow if my
sinuses didn't clear up nearly 85%. I just can't believe it! After all
these years of searching and sinus agony. I found the cultprit finally.
Its been about 2 weeks now and I'm feeling great. I just want to be
sure that others hear my story and follow up with this if its not
something that you have looked into yet.

My symptoms were mostly just clear rhinitis, chonic draining, PND and
constant nose blowing. infections 1 a year usually, some irritation in
my sinuses, facial pain in my cheeks and eyes, mild congestion at times
sometimes caused by so much blowing I think, decreased sence of smell
and did I mention chronic blowing. Thats what drove me nuts!. Oh my
god, it just never stopped.

Anyway, I know I'm not rid of this sinus issue yet but I plan to follow
up with a gastro specialist later this month and hopefully I can kick
this sinus nightmare alltogether. I''m just so happy to have finally
found something positive. I'm feeling much better mentally and
physically.

Thanks for sharing about GERD. I have had chronic sinusitis for about
20 years! I am
going to check this out as a possible cause.
