Getting hooked on Afrin is no joke. Worse, we aren't sure whether its the
preservative that is the cause. Some have had afrin compounded and feel that
this doesn't give the rebound.
You don't get hooked on Afrin because you are weak or a bad person, its the
medication.
First to try is diluting it 1/2 and 12 with saline. For one week . Then next
week again 1/2 and 1/2. That can work.
In office practice it really takes maximum medication to get the cure.

WHen I *have* to use Afrin, I just use ONE small spray (instead of the
recomended 2-3) in one nostril (occasionally both, but only when I
have both congested). I try and not use it more than 4 days
consecutively, and I usually use it only at night when I do.
