The doctor told me to use Afrin or one of those other nasal sprays. So I used it one time and OMG, when it wore off I was completely closed up and couldn't breath at all! I said never again. It was horrible and lasted for hours. You don't get hooked on Afrin because you are weak or a bad person, its the medication. First to try is diluting it 1/2 and 12 with saline. For one week . Then next week again 1/2 and 1/2. That can work. WHen I *have* to use Afrin, I just use ONE small spray (instead of the recomended 2-3) in one nostril (occasionally both, but only when I have both congested). I try and not use it more than 4 days consecutively, and I usually use it only at night when I do. |
