Here are my symptoms.  There are small bumps on the side of my nose,
just above where the nostril flares out.  One on each side.  It appears
as though there're growths on the inside of the nostrils that manifest
on the outside.  When I pinch the nostils gently at the tip of my nose
and inhale there's a funky smell.  This is also the case when I squeeze
my nostrils slightly where the bumps are.  Also the lower half of my
nose is red all the time..This redness is a recent occurence.  I
suspect that this problem may be caused by the fact that 7 or 8 years
ago I got in the habit of using cotton swabs to clean out my nostrils,
but I'm not sure.  I do plan on seeing an doctor about this, but not
hoping for too much because my last visit to an ENT (on a different
matter) was not very fruitful.  Any ideas?

You may be a carrier of chronic Staphyloccocal infection i your nostrils.
Besides stoping your nose picking you should aim to sterilize your nostrils
by daily washings with soap and water, and perhaps a short course of
antbiotic cream.  Good Luck.
