OK, I'm sure that because I'm so desperate for a cure I'm convincing
myself of something but I'm going to enjoy it for now.
ASTELIN RULES!!! For the past 7 weeks I've been trying to shake this
infection (although it may not really be an infection...just a
horrible feeling nose for lack of a better word). I irrigate 2/3
times a day, apply Breathe-Ease nasal gel and spray my nose with the
Breathe-Ease mist a million times a day. Sure, this gave me some
temporary relief but.....my congestion comes and goes, my nose feels
dry, irritated and crappy.
Yesterday, I took a shot of Astelin in the morning. I felt great for
5 hours!! This was a record considering for the past 7 weeks 1-2 hours
was my longest. I took another shot last night and slept like a baby.
This AM, I took another shot and believe it or not
1- My nose is no longer dry! How can this be? How the hell can
Astelin make my nose less dry???
2- I feel no congestion.
3- I am not dizzy anymore
4- I am not getting hot to the point where I have to run outside into
the cold air to breathe.
I sprayed my nose with Breathe Ease mix once today (I usually would
have sprayed 10 times by now). I didn't irrigate either.
So what do you folks think. Is it possible that this is the best
thing out there for Rhinitis? It's an antihistamine and I don't have
allergies (I've been tested 3+ times by different Dr.s). What the
heck is going on??
My track record indicates that this will work for a day or two then
I'll be miserable again but I thought I'd post to encourage others to
give this a whirl. I'll keep my fingers crossed though :)

I'm glad Astelin helps you, Charles. I continue to get great
relief from Rhinocourt AQ. It has made a big difference in
the quality of my life in the last 2 weeks or so. Like you,
I hope it continues.

Astelin, as I understand it, is often for "non-allergic" rhinitis...where
you're getting a reaction to something that they can't test for, or is just not
showing up. I don't know the distinction between how each of these drugs works
- each seems a little different. But it isn't surprising that you've found one
that works better than another. (I've had some promising results with Astelin
at night and Flonase in the morning). Let's hope it continues!
