Is dry cough the initial symptom of asthma?

Got such cough lately though here is tropical, since my nose is allergetic
to cold weather and dust, so I am concerned that every minute I may
get asthma. What are the early signs of sinusitis's conversion into asthma?

If it's any consolation to you I have had a light cough for 20 years without
its developing into asthma.

I can see that is purely secondary to sinusitis and it improves as my sinusitis
improves....

OMG, last new year holiday was nightmare.

Everyday caugh, nose always drop thin liquid and stuck, and first three days
simply couldnt sleep.

I am concerned with whether sinusitis can transmit over the air, since the
boy in
my next room was treated with medicines I suspect maybe for sinusitis, so
those
few days my sinus was also very very bad. Though mine went through with some
simple panadol and outdoor/park activities, I want to know, whether this
disease
transmit over the air? In that house we share same kitchen and hall but I
seldom
went except taking some water, and my room has huge window and well
ventilated.

Flu and infections that cause sinusitis can be airborne and spread among those
in close proximity.......

I practice very good hand washing to avoid colds and flus and subsequent
sinus infections. Don is right that they do transmit via the air but you
can greatly minimize your chances if you wash your hands before eating,
preparing food, after coming in from outside, stores, work place, before
nasal washing etc., as well as the obvious times after using the bathroom.
You don't need to use anti bacterial soap. Just regular soap with warm
water, getting up a good lather of soap to wash away the germs. Also don't
share hand towels at home with any family member that is sick. Wash and
replace your bathroom hand towels twice weekly in winter. Avoid touching
your face, mouth, nose, eyes. All these things are commonsense but being
particularly careful is helpful. If you really want germ preventing ideas
read "The Germ Freak's Guide to Outwitting Colds and Flu" by Allison
Janse. She was recently featured on 20/20 program on ABC.
