What type of sinus surgery is best laser or endoscopic?

Endoscopic for most purposes.

For most purposes, laser is a gimmick.  (It does have a role in a few
procedures).

Would it play a role in removing mucous?

No you are probably looking at the wrong doctor if he is plugging the laser
surgery aggressively (unless you are an unusual case).

Try to research the experience and reputation of potential surgeons.   One good
bet is a major University Medical Center.....

When you say surgeon does that mean the ENT that i'm currently seeing,
he does endoscopic surgery.

Well I was disparaging ones that overly emphasize laser surgery, so I would ot
include him in that.

But really I think that, in any case, once surgery looks to be a prospect, one
needs to look beyond one's current ENT in a lot of cases, amd look for once who
has a special reputation and experience just in sinus surgery.  Yes they are
all sinus surgeons, but not necessarily equally experienced and skilled.

No but I see Dr. Grossan has made a suggestion that I am sure must be good.

The list at
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/health/best-hospitals/rankings/specihqotol.htm

is usually worth looking at but I do not see San Diego mentiomed as such.....

You may want to check 'America's Top Doctors' a guide published by Castle
Connolly Medical, Ltd. The guide identifies the nation’s top specialists
in more than 60 different medical specialties and subspecialties. The
authors surveyed more than 250,000 physicians, asking them to nominate
those who they feel are the top doctors in both their own and related
specialties.

My doctor happened to be in this listing. Although this is not why I had
picked him. I asked different people in my area who had sinus surgery, my
allergist and primary care doctor for a recommendation. Both my doctors
said they would send a family member to this doctor. This carried weight
with me. The fact that the doctor was in this report helped me feel good
about my selection. Also looking at his qualifications, publications and
discussing his philosophy on how much and what type of surgery he would do
influenced my decision. You should take great care choosing an ENT surgeon
so that you get the right amount of surgery. Just a warning, too much
surgery or the wrong kind will leave you with more problems.

It is not a procedure to be taken lightly.  The cutting can be very close to
the brain so find one you really trust.  I don't think I would want anyone
using a laser that close to my brain.

My sinus were a mess.  Continuous infections.  Had the operation over 5
years ago after much searching.  They are still not great but have not had
an infection since.

I had not seen the surgeon in over 3 years when he was doing surgery on my
daughter.  When he came in the room he looked at me and said "I remember
you!!".  Then to my daughter he said "Your surgery isn't going to be
anything like his!!".  Later when I talked to him he brought up the subject
again saying "I took some really awful stuff out of your head".
