Hello:

i just picked up some Alkalol and decided to give it a try.  the bottle
said that it can be used at half or full strength.  i started
conservatively and probably put just uner 1/3 Alkalol - 2/3 warm salt tap
water. this i used with a neti pot.  Wow! I had to end up weakening it
further. I can't imagine ever using this stuff at full strength.  Has
anyone?

I did feel somewhat good afterwards but it may just be the numbing
sensation which was short-lived.

This may sound strange but I use it full strength all the time, but
not like most. I have an old nasal spray bottle (Afrin type) filled
with Alkalol. When I get up in the mornings my nose is usually sort of
stopped up and I use a short spray in each nostril to thin out the
gunk. No it doesn't burn or sting. I have used it with saline nasal
rinses, both rubber bulb and a water pick and it really did sting used
in that way.

It is a great mucous thinner and for me in the mornings a way to
unclog without blowing and getting the resultant nosebleeding or going
to the time and fuss to do a warm saline rinse.

I find that 3-5% of Alkolol works good for me. Too much is too irritating.

Everyone is different. That is why I recommend starting with two tablespoons
of Alkalol to the 500 cc of the Hydropulse - way more dilute than what you
used - and gradually working up to four tablespoons, but stop at what feels
right,  still quite dilute but the pulsatile irrigation is different so a
more dilute solution is best.

If you irrigate with this product, what if you swallow some of it????

Most patients like to add one or two tablespoons of Alkalol to the 500 cc of
Breathe.ease solution. You get a better thinning of the mucus and the nose
feels "fresher".
