From reading some recent (and not so recent) posts I have made the
discovery that I am guilty of not fully reading the instruction manual
that accompanied the Hydropulse.  I have been using for months now and
have never cleaned it.  I remember reading a post sometime ago about
cleaning but i thought that it pertained to when it was left standing.  i
use mine every day, several times a day and also neti pot.

Before last night I had never cleaned it.  Over night last night I poured
hydrogen pyroxide in the cylindar about 1/3 the way up, swished it around,
turned it on feeding it back into the cylinder for a minute and then let it
sit overnight.

Also i use tap water and not distilled or boiled water.

Also I use table salt ONLY.  and occasionally some hydrogen pyroxide and
recently Alkolol - but these in the NETI only.

Is my hydropulse potentially shot after going so liong without cleaning?

does anyone else just use warm tap water and salt when irrigating?

thanks

For cleaning I use 50% vinegar and 50% tap water after letting the tips soak
for a few hours inside the mixture. I run the entire container of mix thru
my machine and then rinse  twice with a couple inches of tap water. I do
this every couple of weeks. Seems to work ok for me.

For irrigation I used room temp distilled water and canning salt. Sometimes
adding a little Alkolol.

Hydrogen peroxide is a weak antiseptic for this purpose, especially
given that you haven't cleaned it in a long while.

The instruction manual specifically recommends a 10% solution of sodium
hypochlorite (Clorox) for 10 minutes.

irrigator.
