My first post and I empathize with everyone here. A little background,
I am 32 years old and have suffered from sinusitis and respiratory
tract infections since birth. So much so that I wasn't immunized until
I left Canada for US at the age of 10 and tried to enroll in school
without immunization records. The doctor in Canada never immunized me
because they said I had a cold. Kind of interesting that light bulb
didn't go off in someone's head. Ok, enough background information -
we've heard it all before and I could go on forever about my condition
because like many sinus sufferers, I have a lot of passion around it.
By the way, I just returned from my DR appt. today and I tested
positive for dust mite allergy. The doctor thinks it might the cause
of my lifelong battle with sinusitis and respiratory infections. He
wants me to get allergy shots twice a week for six months. Sound
simple enough, but I am not getting my hopes up because in the end, I
always end up discouraged and dissapointed.
So, prior to my two septoplasties, the sound of my voice was like
Mickey Mouse. Not a good thing in high school, girls don't tend to dig
that. I'd answer the phone and people would think I was a female. The
teasing throughout elementary, middle and high school was hell.
Anyways, after my two septos around the age of 18 and 19, my voice
deepened, but after the procedures and as of today, I still sound like
I have a cold and my voice occasionally cracks. Makes me very
self-conscious so I do my best to avoid any situations at work where I
might have to speak in front of a group. A year ago I had to speak at
my wedding. Every time I am forced to sit down to watch the tape, I
cringe at the sound of my voice. And I realize that most people don't
like the sound of their voice, but I still think mine sounds more than
a little odd. Also, it's worse when my Eustachian tubes are collapsed.
Does anyone else have problems with their voice cause by

Well the timber of my voice and the state of my sinuses are correlsted.
But of course it is always hard to know what is cause and what is effect and
whether they both could have a common cause.
I find that the amount of sleep I get is one of the biggest influences on both.
Exposure to allergens and irritants is a factor for me too.. You are looking
into that one now.
Are you well rested or do you find yourself falling asleep during the day
sometimes (that is a giveaway for lack of sleep).
This post is mainly in the anecdotal category....

sometimes my voice sound like an echo in my head, usually it is when my
ears(Euch.) is blocked with fluid.
this year my allergies were so bad that what I take for them does not
seem to help. I have to use saline rinse at night now.
My voice sounded like I had a cold all summer.

I had abnormalities in my sinuses (septum was severly deviated closing one
side 90%) that caused a nasal sounding voice (I am female). Once I got it
fixed in high school my voice became pretty normal sounding. I don't know
where you're located but at the Boston area hospital where I've been
treated there is a voice center:
http://www.lahey.org/Medical/VoiceCenter/Index_VoiceCenter.asp
If you're not in the area may be you can check if there is a voice center
near where you live.
Also have you been checked for Gastroesphageal Reflux (GERD) or
Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR)? You can have GERD or LPR without heartburn
symptoms. One of the symptoms of LPR is hoarsness and changes in your
voice. I had this recently and the only signs I had were hoarsness and a
sore throat. It may be worth asking your doctor about this condition.
Also, I had a relative that had polyps on her vocal cords which caused
changes to her voice. You could ask your ENT to use device in the office
that can look at your larynx for signs of LPR and also check for voice
problems such as polyps.

Yes I have Gerds too. Allergies all my life, take a allergy pill
everyday, in the last couple of years get a sinus infection in the
winter.
I usually gargle with warm saltwater in the morning and use a saline
rinse. This keeps me out of my doctors office.

That sounds like my situation also. Everytime I had a nose condition, my
voice
seems more sharper and clearer than in normal days. I had some nostril echos
like voices of aussie. Maybe it was that I was sick of all kinds of illness
so I
just take minor sickness as everyday life.

If I am coming down with a sinus infection, a lot of flem that just sits
in my nasal passages, my voice changes.
