Had sinus surgery in 1997. After surgery sinus problem was not only worse, but reaching severe limits. Used three bottles of commercial rinse "Ocean" every morning. Could not be out in normal humid conditions w/o swelling. Had 3 yrs. allergy shots-- no improvement. Switched specialist-- was told maxillary sinus cavities were totally blocked, breathing was possible by one small opening near sinus entrance around right eye. Sent to another surgeon. Had three surgeries. Left side cleared, right side has scarred tissue, that catches everything that goes into sinus on that side. 90% of time I am infected. Scarred tissue will not go away. Surgeries, IV Therapy, Cipro by mist--- scarred tissue stays, and infections begin. What was once ache is now pain. Sinus on that side will suddenly become inflamed, get hot, and become painful. Went to Cleveland Clinic. Was very expensive, and aside from talking about how miserable I probably was--- they wanted me to set another appointment. They talked about antibiotics etc. Didnt feel was going to be worth 1,000 a visit. Has anyone had scarred tissue for years, and found relief. Would > appreciate hearing The prepared saline solutions are required to keep shelf life for 3 years. So they add Benzalkonium and other stuff for preservation. Many persons, esp those with prior surgery are irritated and made worse by the preservatives, so it is important to mix your own FRESH saline or -HERE COMES THE COMMERCIAL - use my product Breathe.ease for nasal solution which is made fresh without preservatives. In our group we see 1 or 2 patients a week whose ONLY pathology is the benzalkonium reaction and are cured when switched. Appreciate your response. Doctors now give me bottles of prescription saline solution with different antibiotics dissolved in them. Result---- no improvement. I AM THE PATIENT THAT A DOCTOR WOULD LIKE TO UNLOAD AFTER 10 YEARS OF 3 SURGICAL PROCEDURES,HOME IV ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY, and the scarred tissue is still infected. Appreciate your response. Sounds like yous is a problem of poor nasal cilia function. Did your doctor measure your cilia? What are you doing to help restore cilia speed and function? I am sorry to hear that you are having so many problems! I am sorry I have no advice about the scarring other than irrigation and using moisture sprays which you are already doing. It sounds like one thing you need to do is get your immune system back so you can better fight off things. Do you eat a healthy diet full of fruits, greens and veggies, reduce/eliminate sugar and processed foods? Of course taking vitamins and probiotics, yogurt will help too. You may want to look into healthy diets that will help with the inflammation your body must be experiencing. If you are anxious or stressed your body produces cortisol and adrenal plus eating wrong foods which results in inflammation and this will negatively affect your immune system. The books on inflammation diet will explain this more than I can. I would check your library or web sites for these books. One thing you could try is increase your beta-carotene which helps mucous membranes. You could do this by eating 1/2 to 1 Cup carrots each day. |
