Antibiotics are broad spectrum bacteria killers.
Yogurt has MILLIONS of bacteria...
Why eat millions of bacteria only to have the antibiotics KILL them all
and dilute the efficacy of the drug?
Doctors never answer this question

The millions of bacteria in yogurt are dwarfed by the zillions of
bacteria you already have in your body anyway.

It may surprise you to learn that by weight, most of your feces consists
of dead bacteria.

Since my MD told me eat yogurt when taking antibiotics, I have not had a
yeast infection, nor an upset stomachache in
years.

I just think that the "new" advice to eat yogurt with antibiotics is why
antibiotics are not working as well as they used to.

No I really doubt that is the case.

I explained this same concern to my general Doctor who told me that my
theory makes perfect sense, so thats the reason I keep asking everyone I
can.
I say this because 2 weeks ago -/+ I had a small ear infection (must
start allergy shots again) I went to the Saturday Clinic and was
prescribed 7 days of Biaxin XL. I know my body and its healing
procedures better then anyone and Im usually dramatically better on the
3rd day and I had totally forgotten and ate yogurt for 5 days (it was in
the house and was creamy and I didnt have anything else) and the Biaxin
WAS NOT doing the trick! The 6th day I went to my regular Doctor and my
ear was still infected.
She gave me 7 more days of Biaxin and I didnt eat yogurt at all, and I
healed right up...
I can see giving yogurt immediately AFTER a course of antibiotics but
NOT during!
It just doesnt make sense.

BTW- I never get diarrhea or stomach probs with antibiotics.
BUT I do get Hypoglycemic reactions to some! Tequin (I think thats it)
is one that does that.

Dumb doctor.

Calcium, which is abundant in yogurt, frequently inhibits absorption of
antibiotics.  This action has nothing to do with the live cultures in
the yogurt.

Antibiotics kill the GOOD bacteria already in your system. Eventually your
good bacteria may/will return. But why wait? Why not replace the good ones
that are gone with fresh ones that you need?

Dr Grossan?
Why eat them if they are just gonna be killed off by the antibiotics?
Why not wait until AFTER the course is thru?

Let me answer that:

Because as soon as the bacterial population starts to die off in your
body, the fungi in your body will start to proliferate due to lack of
competition from the bacteria.

I get oral thrush even before I have finished the full course of
antibiotic.  And my mom used to get a vaginal yeast infection before she
had finished the full course of antibiotic too.

Neither one of us could be on 3 weeks worth of antibiotic without
getting fungal/yeast infections.

Beyond that, as the bacteria in my intestines are killed off, I start to
experience cramps and diarrhea--even before I have finished the full
course of antibiotic.  For me, a "full course" of antibiotic is 3 weeks'
worth (at least).
