It's been a month since my surgery and I still have the same thick,
sticky mucous and clogged ears.  I feel about the same as I did before
the surgery.  I'm so frustrated and wondering if I need a second
opinion.  My ENT keeps giving brushing me off saying that the sinus is
healing fine but he doesn't address my ongoing symptoms.

I've had two sinus surgeries so far.  In each one, it took roughly FIVE
MONTHS to get the full improvement.

In fact, with both surgeries, I developed post-operative infections.
For a month after each surgery, I was actually sicker than before the
surgery.

Yes it can take and year or more to get full results.

Of course,  if the original poster is still highly allergic to something in hsi
environemnt, he needs to deal with that or the surgery is not going to meet his
expectations.

Thanks for the info!  It makes me feel better to know this.  Did your
surgeon do quite a bit of the vacuum suction or endoscopic inspection
after surgery?  My ENT hasn't done anything except shine a light in my
nose.  I'm beginning to wonder if his follow up care isn't agressive
enough.

Thanks for your insight!

Yes debridement normally needs to be done once  a week, then every two weeks
etc. for a month or two, as far as I know, to prevent scarring.

Perhaps there are cases where it is not necessary (did  you have very minor
surgery?)

Hmmmm.  Maybe you just heal very cleanly and quickly, or there are varying
views,  but I do not know.   A series of post-surgery debridements were
scheduled for me even beforehand and were described as essential.....

Yes, but only after my first surgery.  Because it was extensive.  My
second surgery was less extensive revision surgery and so I didn't need
any vacuum suction.

Call him and ask him.

Called the office and the nurse told me that according to his notes
there was none needed.  I have an appointment next week with him and
will follow up.  I'm praying that I'm not someone who suffers with this
thick mucous forever.  It makes me feel so run down.  For now I'm just
irrigating a lot and taking a ton of mucous thinners.  On the up
side...I don't think I have an infection anymore.
