For about a week I've had the worse nasal congestion....not sure if it's
sinus issues, virus or what...trying to ween self off of the "hard" nasl
drops onto saline, but so far they are all lacking...any ideas?

Thanks!

It might be a sinus infection.

I found a way to flood my sinuses with an anti-infective mixture, that has
cured my chronic sinus infections, and has kept me infection free for over
three years.

Here is the link to the detailed documentation of the "Upside Down Sinus
Flooding: http://home.bellsouth.net/p/PWP-upsidedown

My MD recommended a histamine allergy pill, non-drowsy (Claritin,
Alavert) for me so I do not get congested so bad. I am to use saline
rinses 2x a day when I feel congested.

This Season now, I am taking one of the above (as they are made with the
same ingredient) and am useing Simply Saline rinse.

I've been taking claritan and it doesn't do anything for me..also using
a saline solution and it's aweful...only thing that works is the better
nasal spray, but I'm trying to ween off of it..used it about 4-5 days
already..

Claritin only works for a small portion of the population.  Try Zyrtec,
or Allegra, or OTC Tavist and see which one works best for you.

All of those are in the antihistamine category.

An alternative if they are nor helpful is a steroid spray (Nasonex, Rhinocort
or Flonase).

Right, because the OP asked about Claritin, I posted Claritin alternatives.

Or adjunctive.  But I worry about the potential for systemic absorption
and adverse reactions, something reported for Rhinocort, at least.

My Hubbys MD has him useing both- Rhinacort and Claritin.

As he cannot take decongesants with his BP med.

In other words one standard steroid spray plus one standard antihistamine.

Dear all,

I saw your post on nasal congestion through Google Groups and wonder
whether you might be interested in paricipating in some medical
research.

This would consist of a fifteen minute phone interview for which we
would pay you £20.

You would need to answer a few questions about your use of the drug,
how and why it was prescribed, etc.

If you'd like to get involved please phone my colleague Michael Smith
Senior Project Manager for Spectrum Research on (01242) 524157. We need
to complete this project by Friday 17th June, so please call before
then.

Spectrum is a market medical research company based in Cheltenham, UK.

Yours sincerely,

Matthew Cheeseman
