Nose just not right.....

Had IT turbinate cautery & Septoplasty in Dec 2003.  Until 3 weeks ago
I thought this was the solution to all of my problems.  I was off all
decongestants, nasal sprays, & antibiotics -- not even as much as an
advil for as long as I can remember.  Air was getting through my nose,
I wasn't congested, dizzy or fatigued.  On rare occasion, my nose
would be dry so I'd throw a little of the Grossan nasal gel in there
and I'd be good to go.

Mid October I must have caught some kind of a bug -- my entire office
was sick.  Dr. gave me Z-pack and sore throat was gone within 2 days
but then I was literally hit in the nose and all my old memories came
back.  It's been 3 weeks and my nose is still not right.  I wake up in
the AM and feel fine.  Once I start walking around my nose starts to
clog.  Constant post nasal drip throughout the day.

Allegra-D helps with the pressure but then I get dry.  I irrigate for
dryness --- then the drip seems to get worse.  I go outside and feel
better then I get worse, I go inside and get better then get worse.  I
lay down and get better then move around and get worse.  Symptoms
range from dry nose, the constant drip, to intense pressure in center
of my forehead, then more drip, then I get really hot and have to sit
down.  In other words, my nose is just not right.  This is exactly
what used to happen to me before my surgery except it was much more
intense.

So I guess the surgery helped but the root of the problem is still
there.  My symptoms are not debilitating but if it goes on for another
month they will become debilitating.

Besides for irrigating 2x's daily, Allegra-D for the pressure and
Rhinocart-AQ for the inflamation --- what else can I do?  I can't go
to any more doctors because I'm 100% convinced that the expertise on
these types of web sites are far superior to any 3 minute rushed ENT
office visit.

Any advice??

Thanks all......

Sometimes there is a low grade infection 'hanging on". Ask your doctor about
using
Breathe.ease XL Nasal Gel twice a day to moisturize the nose and allow your
natural resistance to clear the "infection".
Information on this gel is at www.hydromedonline.com
Also, hot tea  / lemon, compresses to the sinus area, etc. If the air is dry,
put pans of water to humidify.

I'm already on it.  I use Breathe-Ease XL a few times a day (2 or 3).
The only thing I really don't do is hot liquids -- I'll give that a
whirl.

Is this "normal" for a low grade infection to hang on for 3+ weeks?
Isn't this an indication that there is something more going on in my
nose (the fact that it takes me this long to fight an infection)?  My
ENT(s) have told me that my nose doesn't look that bad --- slightly
swollen and dry but a far cry from full blown infection.

It's these "minor long term" issues that are driving me crazy.

Thanks very much.
