I've been given it for the treatment of a yeast infection in my mouth.
Yuck. A consequence of the aggressive anti-biotic treatment given post
septoplasty surgery. It says it can cause nausea and vomitting. Two of
the things I hate most in this world.... man, this isn't getting any
easier.

To prevent a yeast infection in my mouth from recurring, my physician
has recommend regular use of OTC mouthwashes that contain the active
ingredient cetylpyridinium chloride, which kills yeast.  The most
effective concentration is found in Cepacol mouthwash.  Scope mouthwash
is somewhat less effective, and Act mouthwash is ineffective.

Works for me.

I've taken Mycelex lozenges before and had no problems, but you may
need diflucan to get get of the yeast if that doesn't work.

Thanks to both of you guys. This helps me feel a little better at least
about this treatment. Hopefully it works.

I tried Mycelex troches in the past for oral yeast.  No bad side
effects, but it didn't help at all, either.  Nystatin liquid, also full
of sugar, didn't help much. Nizoral pills did, but the yeast came back
immediately upon stopping.

I now eat low carb, and even when I'm on more than one powerful
antibiotic, I don't get yeast overgrowth.  Taking probiotics is a very
good idea, too, or eating yogurt with lots of live active culture and no
added sugars.

Thanks for the info. I'm already a big yogurt eater. And I never have
this problem. So there's indeed a direct correlation (at least for me)
with the heavy dosage of this Augmentin antiobiotic that I'm taking.

I've used it.  It's more effective than the mouthwash-type antifungals
because it remains in the mouth longer.

Thanks. No side effects so far. So far, so good. I will remember what
you said, though. I have a good ENT. If on my followup next week it
hasn't gone away I'm sure he'll have recommendations, but the above
helps in case he doesn't.

I don't know if you saw my other post, but once the yeast is gone,
regular use of Cepacol mouthwash (which is the most antifungal of the
OTC mouthwashes) will help keep it away.
