This weekend, I thought I was getting another sinus infection.  I think
that somehow, I managed to avoid the infection but I am having a
tremendous amount of clear post nasal drainage.  This has created a
miserable cough and also started my asthma symptoms.  The asthma
medications (advair and albuterol) have been producing a miserable
headache.  Feels like the back of my skull is in a vise!  Any ideas or
suggestions?  Thanks.

Even clear post nasal drainage can be a sign of sinusitis.

Try gargling with warm salt water for the flem in your throat in the
morning and evening. Then it will not go to down to your chest or affect
your voice.

I have allergies, post nasal drip and Gerds (acid reflux).
I am doing that now as I have post nasal drip this year quite often.

1 cup of warm water with a tsp. of salt. morning and evening.

My MD prescribed the above for me.

Post nasal drip from sinusitis is my worst asthma trigger.  Clear
drainage can still be caused by sinusitis, and I've often had this
experience.

You might try nasal irrigation.  NeilMed sells an inexpensive squeeze
bottle and saline solution, the drugstore has SinoFresh or plain saline
bottles, and if you can afford it, there's Dr. Grossan's hydromedpulse
irrigator.  All of the above have helped me, though it's too soon for me
to say if the hyromed is more effective than the others in my case.

You may need antibiotics, at first, and a nasal spray to get any
infection under control.

I personally find that a sudden onset of a lot of clear drainage indicates the
onset of an infection.....

My ID doctor told me that the clear thick mucus that I've been havining
is a result of inflammation.   It's been so bad that sometimes I think
I'm drowning in it.

I feel the same way.  My drainage is clear but non-stop.
