I just got back from a weekend in Monterey. Great golfing and I really
noticed an improvement in my sinus pressure and drainage while I was
there. It was fantastic. When I got back home to Sacramento, I feel
horrible again. I want to go back again to verify soon and to be sure
that it just wasn't some kind of fluke. Can anyone explain why this
might be? I've never really noticed any improvements to my sinuses when
traveling anywhere else.

If you look at pollution maps you will see that pollution drops drastically
right next the ocean. Mold spores will be lower too.
That is the likely explanation..

The air pollution level was probably a lot lower at the ocean due to the
sea breezes.
You might want to check the pollution levels of where you were in
Monterey and where you live in Sacramento. The website
www.scorecard.org
has the air quality data from the EPA. Just enter the Zip Code in the
indicated box.

I always feel better at the beach. I wish I could afford to move
there.

The pollen gets up to a 1000 here in the summer on the Cape.
The wind seems to be blowing all the time here, which causes me to get a
sinus
headache. There are a lot of days in the summer that I have to stay
indoors with our AC on.

I have allergies and they are much better since we moved to the Cape, it
is on the ocean.
My sinus have not improved, as we have a lot of mold though and it is
damp at
times.
I have Hayfever symptoms at the change of seasons.

David, i too feel better at the ocean. With the onshore winds, the air
is so much cleaner. I live near Portland, Oregon and travel to the
Oregon coast 2-3 times a year and always feel better.
However, I have friends who have allergies and have moved to the coast
hoping to feel better. After about 6 months, they feel just as lousy as
before. Seems there are different triggers that cause them problems.
The same is true of people who move to dry climates like Arizona and
they feel better for awhile then they are just as stuffy with headaches
as before.

ps Someday look into golfing at Bandon Dunes/Pacific Dunes/Bandon
Trails on the Oregon Coast. I hear it's great and hope to play there
soon.

After a few days back in Sacramento, I actually have developed a full
blown sinus infection. I have not had it this bad in a long time. I'm
not sure how that happened. I'm headed to my doc in a few hours to get
antibiotics again.
BTW, I'd love to golf Oregon next year maybe.
