Hi:

Dr. G sent aroud a list of methods ot get fluch thick mucous, when saline
irrigation does not work (even with his machine!). In particular, the good
Dr. said there was something you could add to the solution -- started with
an 'a'???

Does anyone know this?

Thanks in advance!!

I'm gonna geuss and say it was "Alkalol"

http://www.medichest.com/alkalolliquid16oz.html

I've tried it and it was OK. It did not perform any miracles for me but
its worth a try.

Maybe not for you, but yes indeed for me!

I mix the stuff as oto-guy told me, 3 to 1, plus enough salt to keep
it (the water part) from feeling painful as you squirt it in.

(pbm seems to be that local water is usually to alkaline, and
adding salt makes it better, to keep away pain you (well, I)
get when diving into a swimming pool and water gets up my nose.)

I mixup maybe 1/3 to 1/2 or cup's worth, microwave for maybe 20
or 30 or more to *warm* it up (test with finger!), and then
via drugstore-bought ear-syringe (large size) squirt into nose --
bending my head down over a basin or sink.

Man, would my life be difficult without Alkalol!

(cheap enough: maybe $3 per 16oz bottle)

(it is to this that you mix three times as much water,
    and sufficient (as above) salt.)

but
