Cryosurgery a treatment for Vasomotor Rhinitis?

I have been diagnosed with vasomotor rhinitis, and after doing some
searching on the internet, I found information in several Journals,
i.e., Journal Laryngol Otol. 1980 Dec;94(12):1411-3 and others
published later which suggest that cryosurgery (liquid nitrogen)can
help reduce the chronic drainage that is caused by vasomotor rhinitis
because it affects both the mucosa and the submucosa.  Some report
success rates as high as 54% and others suggest that further study
might be necessary.  I would like to know more from a doctor who has
actually performed the procedure because I'm thinking of having it done
if it might help solve this problem.

Why don't you address your comments to everyone rather than just doctors?

Correction, I would love to hear from anyone who might have any
knowledge or experience about this procedure.

As far as I know, no one does cryosurgery on the nose/turbinates any more.
It caused severe necrosis of the nasal cilia  and the depth of destruction
couldn't be controlled.
Vaomotor rhinitis simply means over acive nerve response of the nose.
If you MUST have something, that's a good choice - it washes away the
bacteria.
There are various treatments that work and your own doctor can suggest the
best for you.

I did discuss this with my doctor and he was only able to suggest
atrovent and astelin.  He suggested that I do nasal washes with the
product provided by  Neilmed (www.neilmed.com), but I decided to
purchase a Grossan  Hydropulse.  Thus far, the Grossan hydropulse has
helped me feel much better than anything I 've used.  If there are
other treatments besides these, I would love to be pointed in the right
direction.

I can understand that this might seem like a simple problem to someone
who does not suffer from it but my nose literally runs like water
sometimes.  If I bend over, I'm always afraid that something might
unexpectedly come running out.

By the way, Dr Grossan,

Astelin is a good product to try for vasomotor rhinitis as is Atrovent. If
thse don't work, Somnopplasty or injecting Kenalog into the turbinate are
procedures that we do. Each doctor has individual preferences for how he
approaches this problem.

If all else fails, the nerve to that area can be severed.
