trying to figure out what i may have... of course, i may have nothing
too.
i have been diagnosed with almost every common NON-FOOD allergy there
is, and fairly strong reactions too (dust, mold, ragweed, pollen,
cat/dog etc.).
anyhow, lived in a house with alot of mold and with continuous dry
heating for the first time a few years ago... moved but same
continuous dry heat.
now, i have this constant sort of tickling feeling in the back of my
nose, top of my throat, but nothing i can touch (more in some tubes).
i haven't had a runny nose for years, but if i do alot of irrigation
and sit in steam bath, i can get some mucous going.... so it's not
like no mucous but i definitely can't bring down any mucous
voluntarily by sucking down thru my nose like i used to be able to do.
i cough and i feel stuff move and some relief but very seldom does
anything come out. occasionally (like every two months) an extremely
hard piece of mucuous..... also, itchy ears and tingling in throat,
but never know exactly where the feeling originates and as i said
"alot of allergies".
my thoughts are some combination of dehydration, allergies,
stress..... could it be that the mucuous membranes have dried up or
sinisitus (same thing???)..... i went to an ENT early summer 2004 and
he didn't find anything but i described it more as a "lump" feeling,
which in hindsight it really isn't.... i think the ENT put his hands
down my throat and also used some small camera.... are dried
membranes/sinusitis etc. easy to diagnose???
my GP says he sees alot of this these days and wants to put me on
flonase, but i found it very expensive and limited effect.... i'm
hoping some industrial strength irrigation could help me..... much
worse in the winter with continuous dry heat, so i think related to
that.

Sure the dry heat is often very hard on the nose and sinuses. I had it on
high for just one day here in the South and one of my turbinates got very
irritated, Thankfully it has warmed up again here outside.
See if you can leave a window partly open if it is not prohibitively cold
there.
Sinusitis can be quite hard to diagnose.
Flonase should help if you can get insurace to pay for it or otherwise afford
it. Even at half-strength it (actually I use Nasonex) helps me. It takes
time.
Avoiding dust and mold is critical.
