Got my nose opened up after a 1.5 year infection. Still putting
antibiotics up my nose.

Unfortunately we are starting back into a summer pollution pattern
(it's Texas - we skip winter), and viruses are going around as well.

Started w/ a scratchy throat and burning nose - now I keep smelling
synthetic vanilla and it won't go away.

Am also feeling infected (again.....). Is this something that might be
because of the infection? Or is there something else going one?

Strange smells that aren't there are not uncommon with chronic
infections in the nasopharynx, whether bacterial or viral.  Though I
think you're the first person on this NG to report vanilla smell.  With
me it's always a smell of something rancid or rotten--a smelly cheese
smell for a viral infection and a rotten meat smell for a bacterial
infection.

For me it is metallic and sweet. How odd. Trudy.

Another vote for metallic.
