I am having my first sinus surgery next week. My CT scan shows all sinuses
except for the sphenoid are completely impacted, infected and or filled
with polyps. I am also having my deviated septum corrected. My question
concerns my frontal sinuses because the doctor said he might not be able
to do anything with those. Is that typical? I ask because I am being
treated by a military doctor in a military facility and wondered if I am
not getting the best treatment possible? Or is it likely that he is being
conservative and wants to see if they drain into the lower sinuses? Any
info/ experience is appreciated.
I have been suffering with severe congestion, headaches and infections for
5 years. I recently DEMANDED that I was referred to an allergist and ENT
because I had had enough! I went to the allergist and tested negative for
allergies! I have been taking daily antihistamines for 7 years thinking I
had allergies. My ENT thinks I still have allergies but told to wait to
pursue blood allergy testing and see how the surgery goes. Needless to
say I am very leary because of the poor treatment I have received from the
military doctors/hospitals.
Any thoughts or similar situations? I am so looking forward to the
possibility of feeling normal again and thinking I was depressed because I
was constantly fatigued!
Thanks,
Stef

Not necessarily but there certainly could be circumstances in your case which
made access to the frontals difficult or inadvisable..
If you have a lot of polyps you can ask if you should avoid aspirin-like drugs
- see e.g.
http://www.allergycapital.com.au/Pages/Samters.html or many other web sites.
.
As to allergies, mold and dust are often major triggers, even when the allergy
tests are negative, so you should try to avoid those.....
