last summer i had a septoplasty in my left nostril to fix a deviated
septum and at the same time remove a polyp. this was performed because
my left nostril has ALWAYS been more congested than my right. i've
been getting allergy shots since then. well, it's been a few months
now and my left nostril is still considerably more blocked up than my
right nostril. in fact, at the moment my allergies aren't bothering me
at all...my right nostril is completely free of congestion but my left
is quite obstructed still. this congestion has caused swelling in the
bridge of my dose between my eyes and also under my left eye. i can't
seem to get rid of this damn congestion and the swelling it's causing.
i've tried irrigating with saline, blowing my nose repeatidly, taking
decongestants and antihistamines...some meds will have a little effect
on it but most do little to nothing. my ENT thinks it's allergic but
why would i get congestion in one nostril and not the other? can i
take something with guafenesin (sp?) to thin out this mucous and get
it cleared out? i'm really perplexed. if i could get this blockage out
of the left nostril it'd be great.

Well you will have to learn some anatomy to start with.
Whatt you really mean by the vague term "congestion" is probably that your
turbinates are swollen. You need to learn what turbinates are and discuss the
cause with your doctor. They may come down with a steroid spray...
