Irrigation after surgery. My chest.

I had my third sinus surgery on Thursday.

It seems to have gone well. My ENT said that he had tried to do is as
minimally invasive as possible. There was much less bleeding after the
removal of the padding than in my two prior surgeries.

My question is if I should start irrigating now or not. My ENT says
that I should only do it after he sees me, a week after surgery and I
am following that advice so far. In my other operations, however, my
other ENT told me to start irrigating almost immediately.

Now, one nostril is half blocked and I have been carefully blowing out
some mucus and blood to try to clear it up but there is still more. It
is uncomfortable and I feel that irrigating might help but the wounds
are still very raw.

The biggest problem now is still my chest, that has been giving me
problems for four months on and off but that is now worse than ever.
Pain, shallow breath, permanently cold. Any heavy breathing, exposure
to cold or exercise makes it very bad. I am going to see a respiratory
specialist. I hoped the surgery might clear it but it seems my lungs
need attention. Let's see.

You should always follow the advice of your current physician.  You
chose him to do the surgery because you trusted his judgment.  Try to
trust him a while longer.

It's possible that constant low-level respiratory infection in your
sinuses could have triggered either asthma, bronchitis, or pneumonia in
your lungs.  And with a lower-respiratory infection, pleurisy can result
as well.  So yes, you should see a specialist about that.

Hello,
If the "mucous" is of an infectious matter, you must
call the Doc immediatly. If the "mucous" is clear,
settle down and behave yourself and do as Doc told
you to do. At your next appointment ask him what you
may and maynot do about salt solution in the nose.
