has anyone else experienced this? Sinuses bothering me yesterday and
this week, was a bit stuffy on one side last night, used the tiniest
bit of Afrin to sleep. Woke up this am with pressure, a bit of gunk and
NO SMELL. not a DAMN thing. Stuck my nose in the coffee can, under my
aftershave and ....nothing. Anterior ethmoids must be blocked? Is this
temporary? God I hope so. Took a bit of sudafed.. maybe that'll bring
it down. Opinions? Thanks.

There are two possibilities
some swelling or nasla polyps are blocking the passage to the olfactory - smell
center.
or
there is a condition where the nerves of the smell organ are swollen.

If it is the latter , immediate treatment to reduce that swelling is needed
because the smell nerves are encased in bony canals and when they swell they
can be permanently damages.

Thanks doc,

I actually had surgery six months ago for dev septum and FESS...overall
pretty good. Sinuses bugging me lately for unknown reason.

Anyway, after flushing several times with Breathe Ease XL and some
sudafed, smell is back. Whew! Must have been the edema.

BTW, what do you think of the Ionic Breeze (TM) air purifier? I just
got one.

Neither the College of Allergy nor the Academy of Allergy will permit
advertisements for ionizer generator as they feel it irritates the chest (and
nose).
