Hello... Just out of curiosity... Does anyone experience heart
palpitaions (feeling the heart beat) with their sinusitis?   I'm just
wondering if there's a connection between the two.  The only time I used
to get these things was if I was sick...Say with a flu. Lately, it's
been almost steady. Plus I sometimes experience an occasional inner
tremor ..That can even involve the legs ..Another thing one gets with a
flu.  Could it be from my infection?  I'm currently not experiencing any
sinus pain, yet I'm still flushing out some colored mucus.

..One more thing.... I know I've got some ethmoid involved sinusitis.
Is it common to experience pain in the eyeball (as a result of the
infection) if you put pressure (As in rubbing) on the inside corner of
it?.  ...The pain appears to come directly from the eye-ball  itself,
but only if pressure is applied  on this inside corner; not the outside
corner.    ...Being an occasional Iritis sufferer, my eyes are checked
quite frequently. I mentioned this pain to the eye doctor, but he said
my eyes..Pressure, etc. are very healthy. Further, I have no pain from
doing any extreme eye movements. (A tell-tale sign of irits--- You
experience pain, if you look cross-eyed, say ...Muscle tension on the
inflamed eye ball.)     ..Jon

Hi Jon,
Could it be that a sinus medication that you might take is raising your heart
rate?  I find that even over-the-counter sudafed will do that to me if I
haven't taken it in a while. Just a thought.

One of the body's natural defenses against allergens, entering the body, is
to activate the adrenaline gland, which pumps adrenaline, among other
chemicals, into the body.

Adrenaline has a direct effect upon one's heart, usually causing it to beat
faster. Some people's heart might be effected in different ways by
Adrenaline. I get serious heart rhythm problems from my allergies.

Thank you. I thought I was the only one with that problem. It can scare
you when it happens.

There are innocuous arrhythmia and there are  dangerous heartbeat
irregularites.

To find out which you have, you need to see an internist or cardiologist.

I certainly would not assume it is caused by allergies.

Triggered by allergies, maybe, but to say it is caused by sinus problems is
far-fetched.

You could also have some other condition that is causing both!   I think this
is very likely.   One possibility is anemia.    Check B12 levels....

Hello... Turns out my palpitations are due to hyperthyroidism. ...I'm
wondering, now, if this insult to injury was brought about by my sinus
irrigation with the salt water. .....I understand, if one is predisposed
to HT, an excess of salt can actually start the process going.   ...So
I'm plagued with severe arthritis, kidney stones, HBP, Chronic
Sinusitis, and now hyperthyroidism.   ....Doesn't it make you sick to
see how some people can totally abuse their bodies with drugs, alcohol,
and tobacco, yet stay in perfect health.   ...I tell you, at times, life
can sure suck.    ...Jon

The huge excess of iodine in our diet (a lot of it from salt)  is not good for
the thyroid.

Of course you could have tried to get non-iodized salt.

It is farly criminal that they add iodine to salt still.

However, they would probably say that you were predisposed genetically to
hyperthyroidism.......

Hello Don....  I have always used the course pickling salt. ...I don't
believe it says  "Iodized" on it.  ...Perhaps there's a certain amount
of Iodine in it naturally.    ...Jon

Pickling salt is free of iodine.  In that case, irrigation would not have
contributed to hyperthyroidism.

I am glad at least that I correctly advised originally that palpitations were
reason to be seen be an internist  and not assumed to be an innocuous
side-effect of sinusitis.

You will find that you can live a completely unrestricted life with appropriate
therapy for the hyperthyroidism.   It will not be a burden at all  You might
want to check into  the alt.support.thyroid group....
