I just read this, and I'm wondering if this is why irrigation didn't work
for me the first time around (I'm close to giving it a second shot).

Dishcarge and 'runniness' are not something I suffer with - stuffiness,
dreadful pain ... yes.

Is irrigation really a 'clearing' tool? I found that the irrigator actually
caused a lot of running and dishcharge (i.e. the only time I had a severely
'runny' nose was the few hours after irrigation, I was clear before and had
never actually experienced that amount of runniness).

If there are benefits though beyond a running nose, I'm happy to have the
runniest nose in Britain if the pain subsides :)

As I wrote in another post, I have to shake my head all different ways (bent
over the bathtub, which I clean afterwards) to get all the junk to come out
afterwards. You can try that after irrigation.

However, if you normally do not have excess discharge, you might not want to
irrigate regularly, As they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". It's
possible it could exacerbate your symptoms. If you do try it again, try the
shaking afterwards.

If you just have stuffiness without discharge, it's quite possible that you
would benefit from sinus surgery. See a good ENT about it.
