I am really just wondering what other peoples symptoms are like and
seeing if anybody has had experiences like me.  I posted a few days
ago asking for advice after suffering recurring sinus infections which
are now not responding to antibiotics.  My GP has referred me to ENT
which although has a 48 week waiting list I have managed to jump the
cue because I work as a nurse in the hospital and have an appointment
for next week.

My sinus symptoms are slightly better since antibiotics or maybe just
the four weeks time has helped.  However I still have a postnasal drip
which is clear in colour and worse in the morning.  When my eyes move
in the socket this is painful in the mornings too.  I went back to
work last week and lasted four days by the end of the week my glands
were swollen and my body ached.  I returned to the GP who has signed
me off sick for one week and feels I have a virus and has taken a
blood sample. This is my fifth week of being unwell and I cant help
worry.  Im not sure whether I havent given myself time to get over
this.  Do you think all my symptoms are related to my sinus
problems??????

No.  Body aches are unlikley to be sinus related.

Are you sure? I have had sinus infections before with aching all over,
similar to flu symptoms.

Ok I guess it is possible that they could be then...

I was going to post on this possibility but I hesitated until you
provided me with an "existence proof" that this is possible.

My ENT believes that many, perhaps even most, acute sinus infections may
actually be viral in nature, rather than bacterial.  And with any sort
of viral respiratory infection, the body's immune system responds and we
can feel it as body aches.  I get body aches with a bad viral cold.

Are you sure that those sinus infections you had with body aches were
bacterial, not viral?

I thought they were bacterial but now it looks like it is viral.
Although I have responded previously to antibiotics.  I think the
length of time this is taking to clear it must be viral and my GP
thought it sounded like a virus.  I have an ENT appointment on Tuesday
so that should give me some idea of what is going on.  Just now I feel
I'm guessing what is happening.  Things were clearing up and I went
back to work which was pretty hectic and it was like all the time I
had spent getting better was wasted.  So another few days of rest and
hopefully I will be better.

My ENT subscribes to the "unified field theory" of viral infections.
Since the respiratory epithelium tissue is pretty much the same in your
nasopharynx, sinuses, larynx and trachea, he believes that a viral
infection that starts in any of those can quickly infect all the rest of
them--and often does.

So a viral sinusitis probably affects you like a viral cold.  And yep,
mild aches and pains are known to accompany a cold.

Hello,
Try this following and if it helps a lot,
then the answer is, YES. - Well . . . for now . . .
Remember the "Saying":
Where there is irritation;
There is blockage;
Where there is blockage;
There is swelling;
Where there is swelling;
There is infection.
Go to the drug store and get a bottle of OCEAN. You may
use it or dump it out; then go to the health food store
and purchase a 'GOOD' sea salt; then make a solution in
a pint jar of: 2 teaspoons of salt and water; then use
this solution in your OCEAN bottle to "gently" spay your
noze as often as you need to do. Right now use some
Guaifenesin, which is found in Robitussin (green label)
to keep your mucous flowing and thin so that you donot
get a nasty sinus infection. These remedies are just
starters, and only help you to prevent a serious sinus
condition. Candida is probably your monster, as 96%
of all sinus complaints are due to fungus. Candida is
a whole 'nother Chapter.
This will get you started on your journey:

Good luck . . .
PS:
STERILIZE THOSE BOTTLES ONCE IN A WHILE!!!!!!
Are you sure you are using "AIDS precaution"?!!!!
. . . Get tested every six months . . . !!!!

especially when the nose is infected or congested, the benzalkonium
preservative can be highly irritating so it is not recommended here.

After suffering with multiple sinus infections, year after year, for
decades, I experimented with flooding my nasal passages with a mixture of
diluted 3% hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and kosher salt. In order to flood
my nasal passages and keep them flooded, I keep my forehead pointed
downward. I keep my forehead down for quite a while, hoping that the
anti-infective mixture can get to the infected area(s) within my sinuses and
nasal passages.
.
It works! I have been sinus infection free for about 3 years. I think that I
had chronic infection problems with my turbinates, so flooding my nasal
passages with the anti-infective mixture worked very well, for me, since the
infected areas were fairly easy to reach.
.
I have fully documented my experience and how I did it at Healthboards.com.
There are posts there by people who have tried my "upside down sinus
flooding" and have received either partial relief or total relief. There are
also posts there from those who it hasn't helped, and by those who don't
think that it is a good idea. I have no connection at all with Healthboards.
I use it because I consider it to be the best facility for discussing health
problems on the Internet.
