Today I went to my GP and upon examination, she said that it appeared that I
had a sinus infection for, "at least six months, from what I can see."
(sidenote: I had initially went to see her about sinus problems in July,
2003, two months after I moved into the Mold Motel)  She also said that the
mold in the apartment I used to reside in was most likely the cause.

Interestingly, she said that the thrush was due to my daily use of a tongue
cleaner.  She said that I had scraped off the protective mucousal lining on
my tongue therefore exposing my tongue to the infected post nasal drip,
hence the bouts of thrush.  She told me to stay away from brushing my tongue
and the tongue cleaner and to baby it in the meantime.

Interesting stuff, eh?

I left with prescriptions for Bactrim and Allegra for 21 days.  She said to
come back if I am not cleared up by the end of the course of medications for
sinus x-rays to see if there is any blockage.

I am pretty optimistic that this will do the trick.  If not... I'll just
cross that bridge if/when I get to it.

Thank you for all the good words of advice and the knowledge I received in
reply to my post!

I don't see how post nasal drip infected with sinus bacteria can lead to
bouts of thrush--since fungus and bacteria compete for the same
nutrients.  I'm going to mention this one to my dentist.

Anyway, I'm glad you're getting help from your GP.  Let us know how it goes.

One rule of thumb:  If after 5 days of Bactrim, you're still not any
better, than it probably won't work at all.

It is funny you should mention this because i had oral thrush last
year, and the dentist put me on med, that cleared it up, this year i
have a really bad stopped up ear's, and post nasel drip, the doctor
told me it was a fungus in the inner ear's. and i am back on the
bactrin again, my ears would plug up like i was going up in altitude.
and i would hold my nose and pop my ears and they were ok for a
while, and then plug up again, by the way for those who don't know
about ear candle's,,,,, don't use them they are dangerous, i tryed it
and when it burned down toward's the end of the end, it leaked hot wax
into my ear drum, talk about pain,   won't do that again, took me for
ever to get the wax out of my ear., they tell you after you use it to
squeeze the end of it and you will see all the ear wax comeing out
from your ear, hog wash,,, it is the wax from the ear candle.
and there is no sucktion comeing from the candel, just a big money
maker.
