i've asked this before, but never got a definitive answer - or any
answer i don't think, so i'll ask again...
does Astelin 'dry' out your sinuses? is it like Claritin-D (Claritin
with the decongestant) which does cause dryness or is it more like
simply Claritin (without the decongestant) that does not cause
dryness?
anyone know?

Some such as http://www.nashvilleent.com/articlerhinitis.shtml
say that all antihistamines can cause dryness, depending on the individual...

astelin is like Benadryl in liquid form, therefore it can cause dryness as well
as drowsyness.

The only way you can see how you react to it, is to try it. Have you?
I have found Astelin to have some efficacy. It helps some.
One has to be careful when using it, as if it gets in your mouth and throat,
there is a terrible taste. Unlike other nasal sprays, do not sniff when
spraying, do not put the head back, etc. Just let it drip out of your nose
afterwards, keeping your mouth closed.

Astelin dried my sinuses out excessively. I was thirsty all the time and my
sinuses became way too dry. As a qualifier, I did have significant
sinusitis, allergies and sinus infection going on at the time. I had to quit
taking Astelin and go back to 25mg benadryl. I'll give the Astelin another
try sometime when I'm not so ill.
