Migraines from sinusitis?

Fred - 30 Oct 2004 20:10 GMT Finally saw an ENT, he thinks the facial pains I have around the eyes and nose are migraines linked to sinusitis, not result of an infection. Sudafed usually helps, as does steam and a hot pad. Trying Flonase now. Has anyone else been told their inflamed sinuses are giving them migraines, and what sort of treatment have you tried? I've had the episodes of pain for 12 years, but now they are getting more frequent and severe, and decongestant not as helpful. Thanks.

Thanks. try sinus buster, i thought it was typical internet "snake oil" but it really helps.
George - 30 Oct 2004 23:54 GMT Yes, I was diagnosed by a neurologist 20 years ago with migraines caused by my sinuses. I take Imatrex for them and that works.
In addition, some of the headaches that I thought were migraines were based in nerves radiating to the sinus area from neck and shoulder muscles and I was able to control those with exercises both from Dr. Grossan's book and from my Massage Therapist.
Most of my sinus migraines originate with weather changes (barometric pressure) and so I can't do much about them.
I found regular nasal irrigation quite helpful at controlling the sinus congestion behind these migraines. I also take Guisinaphen, the active ingredient in Robitussin, which I have made up into capsules. This is a mucous thinner. Alcolol is another mucous thinner that I sometimes use in my irrigations or in a saline spray bottle. It's liquid and quite effective. Most often I have congested sinuses rather than infected ones. The treatment for infections is quite different, though the irrigation works well on them as well, in my opinion.
Good luck.

Christi :-\) - 04 Nov 2004 06:09 GMT Omgosh George!! What you describe is the same things I'm going through. I have had an MRI, CT scan, been to the ent. I had therapy on my neck. I have noticed when I'm having sinus problems that's when I get the headaches that I get. When you explain the nerves in your neck going up to your sinuse..wow. Sounds just like was has been going on with me. My doctor put me on anti depressants to see if they were tension headaches and that seemed to help but I never really had sinus probs during that time. Lately I have had some sinus probs and I have gotton headaches too. My most recent one was a few weeks ago and I had some scarey news that brought one on. The blood just rushed to my head and brought a headache on, it just pounded. I can take hydrocodone and it will get rid of the pain but my neck really kills me. It feels like what you said, tiny nerves in the neck going way up the back of my head. The pain never goes away for weeks either. I have never seen a neurologist. I have seen and done all I can do and my doctor just can't really diagnose me really. I was ok for a year and just a few weeks ago they came back. I get them when I get scared or even when I'm having an orgasm. I know that sounds funny but it's true. And they hurt sooo bad. Does this all sound like what you have gone through? Please leat me know and thanks for reading this..Christi :-)

Thanks . . . it will make me feel a lot better as long as i know you are doing that . . . In the mean time cut out all salt for a while, and learn to not get MAD at anything - laughing at oneself or the person making you mad, is easier on the blood pressure. Also cut out all sugar . . . and white-flour products . . . and booze . . . red meat . . . eat dark green, leafy veggies, and something RAW every day . . . grapefruit or garlic- raw . . . + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/benjamin.htm MustRead! http://WWW.PAMINIFARM.COM "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" Hosea 4:6

Totally disagree with the above. a. don't get mad. Bottling up you emotions is the worst thing you can do to prevent headache. It is ithe boottled up emotion that raises the BP and triggers the headache. Cut out all salt? To prevent haadache? What does that do? Cut out all sugar????? There is NOTHING you can eat that isn't converted to sugar. If you eat nothing but fat, your blood sugar remains the same. Actually, persons who do take sugar in their coffee and tea keep their weight better than those who drink diet drinks. Cut out booze? A cocktail or wine is the best relaxer to prevent a headache. Why would you cut out red meat to prevent headaches? ???????
90% of that advice is bound to bring on a headache. The stress of trying to keep to it is probably more stressful that than daily life.

pamdomania/paminifarm constantly crossposts to irrelevant newsgroups and spreads hatred of jews through it's anti-semitic websites. The best policy is to totally ignore them (trolls) and everything they do/say even if it offends you.
Christi :-\) - 05 Nov 2004 18:37 GMT Thank you...he/she will be ignored. :-)

In the mean time please donot try to do the Communist thing and tell everyone else who/what they should/shouldnot read- because some people have a brain, and may laugh at your Communistic ways - thank you . . . Is it true webtv is Communist and tied in with Communist Disney and was invented for the scum of the earth, who are too dumb to resit Communism, plus the others who are too cheap or too brainless to buy and/or learn how to operate a computer? I never really belived that gossip, however you may convince me if you wish . . . Did you all know that webtv willnot allow Homeopathy news groups behind their wall????!!!! Yes, another . . . Pamdomania - 06 Nov 2004 03:22 GMT >Please don't respond to pamdomania, it is a troll. Hello, Notice poster giving advice about Pammy considers some humans are "its", only a parasite that sucks the blood of Americans could think and speak in that manner. In other words: if its and "it" you can eat it . . . because "it" isnot human . . . which explains why we hemorrhaged $3 Trillion in 2002 to the parasite. See here about the: Hemorrhage For Jews: http://www.paminifarm.com/ Now you know why so many Americans have no medical coverage; Seniors live at animalistic level; schools are skunked; parents have to leave their children to work as slaves, and on and on.

ENTconsult - 05 Nov 2004 06:32 GMT Remember there are triggers for Migaine including smelly cheese and red wine. Some migraine patients benefit by daily hard shower to back of neck and gently turn and stretch from side to side for four minutes. This can train the blood vessels not to be so twitchy. [quoted text clipped - 3 lines] >I've had the episodes of pain for 12 years, but now they are getting >more frequent and severe, and decongestant not as helpful. Thanks. Hello, If youare having sinus headaches, then please stop confusing the issue by calling them "migraines". Either youare having migraines or you are having sinus pain; of course you could have both conditions: Migrain and sinus infections, however the two shall never twain. Most headaches are sinus related, and i feel "migrain" headaches are suspect. There are special tests given for "migrain" discovery . . . If your Doc is telling you youare having a "migrain" because of your sinuses, tell him to go suck an egg, and get yourself a visit to an ENT, and have your sinuses checked. If the ENT wants to give you a CT scan for your sinuses; tell him to go fly a kite and find a Doc that uses MRI for sinus pictures. You must realize you are going to run into jerks everywhere, so take the reins into your own hands and protect your health from these quacks . . . Either control the quack you have, or if you cannot, then go get a new quack that you can handle or one that is honest, and not insecure, parasitic, and in the process of building up his business - with you being just another customer to be led around by the nose (pardon the pun). + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/benjamin.htm MustRead! http://WWW.PAMINIFARM.COM "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" Hosea 4:6
George - 31 Oct 2004 06:31 GMT No, They're migraines all right. I get sinus headaches too. It's not too hard to tell the difference. The Neurologist did extensive testing before diagnosing the migraine triggered by my sinus. The Migraine medication works when it's a migraine but not if it is just a sinus headache. My ENT agrees with the diagnosis too.
I hope this clarifies my earlier post.

Hello, Please disregard the troll asdf, and notice he never talks about his "sinus" problem. His mainstay is to discredit anyone that has information of a relative nature. You may think of him as a book-burning Commie if you wish . . . He is a spammer of this news group, and is anti-truth. Basically he is a truth hater, since it causes him to lose money on his dangerous irrigator that plunges fungus and bacteria up into your eyes and brain area . . . If you let him tell you what to read and what to say when, you can hang it up. Notice i am an "it", not "human", and that is the mindset of these filthy parasites. iamthezookeeper - 01 Nov 2004 12:24 GMT Fred, hope you find some relief soon...migraines just plain suck. I have had five in my lifetime and they completely do me in each time. I do get an aura before one though so I know to get ready. I can't take most meds put out for them and am on so much already for sinusitis/asthma/pain that I wouldn't want to add another anyway. I never thought to ask my ENT if they are connected to my chronic sinus disease, will do that next time. Mostly when one comes on, I have to go to bed, have perfect quiet, and no light at all...and wait. Let us know what you find out and hope you get some answers soon. Trudy.
Fred - 06 Nov 2004 03:36 GMT THANKS I'm going to ask the doc about trying some of those remedies that are working for you. Appreciate the help-- Fred
